COVID-19 Updates
This week schools are sending home COVID-19 tests with all students. We are requesting that any students with COVID symptoms during Spring Break take a home test prior to returning to their campus on Monday, April 17, 2023.
Please be reminded that the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH) has updated their guidelines for K-12 schools:
Students with COVID symptoms are encouraged to test. However, they may return to school if their symptoms are mild and improving and they have been fever-free for 24 hours. They do not need to provide a negative test or doctor’s note to return to school. AESD has incorporated this new guidance in the AESD Illness guidelines.
Students who test positive must still notify their school for next steps.
CDPH no longer recommends routine notifications to families of school-based exposures. Therefore, schools will discontinue sending home the school exposure notification letters to families when there is a positive case on campus.
On behalf of our Board of Education and staff members, we send you warm wishes for a safe and enjoyable Spring Break.
Kind regards,
Dr. Christopher Downing
