Pajama Pants Fridays
The next pajama pants day is Friday, September 30th!
Student of the Week
How does a student get selected?
During the week, teachers will nominate students who are showing excellence or improvement in one or more of our 5 learning outcomes, by submitting their names to the front office. Each friday, one name will be randomly drawn and that student will be named Student of the Week.
How does a student find out if they were selected as Student of the Week?
On Fridays, during our morning announcements, the student's name will be announced on the PA system. That student will be called to the office.
What does the Student of the Week get?
The student of the week will get to choose from a box of snacks and prizes. They will also get a certificate and they will take a photo in front of our Student of the Week Board. All of the photos will be published in our monthly newsletters. So September's students will be published in the October Newsletter!
What if my name gets called but I'm absent that day?
Not to worry! We will save your prize and certificate for when you return.
Parent Power Hour
This month we will be focusing on how you can easily earn all of your participation hours for the year. At New Tech, we ask that all of our parents give 30 hours of time/donations to support our school community.
There are several ways to fulfill this requirement. Come to this meeting to find out how. If you have other ideas, we welcome those as well.
We need our parents to partner with us so together we can support all of the individual needs of our students.
As always, light refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!

Help us STOCK THE STAFF ROOM!
Parents can earn participation hours by donating items to the school. Because of the way our school day is set up, and because of the compassion and care our teachers have for our students, they do not have a lot of opportunities to leave campus during the day.
We like to show care and support for our teachers by always having snacks, coffee, and cold beverages available for them in our staff lounge. If parents and family members would like to contribute to this cause, they can donate items as well. You can earn 1 hour for each bulk item you donate to the school. We are not picky, but here are some ideas for items to donate:
- Cases of Water
- Cases of Soda
- Cases of Sparkling Water (Like LaCroix)
- Cases of Vitamin Water (or similar)
- Keurig Coffee Pods
- Coffee Creamers
- Individually wrapped snacks or chips
If you want to help us Stock the Staff Room, simply bring the item in to the office, complete the participation form, and turn it in to Ms. Rico or Mr. Hernandez. We will log your hours. Each quarter, Ms. Rico will email all of our parents to inform them how many hours they have earned.
School Attendance is IMPORTANT!
- Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful and on track to graduation.
- By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
- Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year can affect a student's academic success.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Make school attendance a priority
- Help your teen stay engaged in school
- Communicate with the school when your student is absent.
