Student Progress and Monitoring
Keep Up with Your Student's Academic Progress By Connecting to Your Student's Canvas Account
It is important to connect to your student's learning, ensure assignments are being completed, and help monitor your student's grades. As a parent/guardian, you can link to your student’s Canvas account via desktop web browser or the Canvas Parent app available on both iOs and Android devices to track your student’s homework and grades. Create your parent/guardian account using the following steps:
- Visit www.isdschools.org/canvas/
- Click “Login for Parents” followed by “Click Here for an Account” to create your free Canvas parent account. Enter your name and email address, create a password and enter your student's pairing code.
Your student will need to generate their pairing code when logged into Canvas under "Account", click "Settings" followed by "Pair with an Observer" to generate a code.
Once you enter this code, click “Start Participating” to create your Canvas parent account. - Please note that a pairing code is valid for up to 7 days.
You can find step-by-step instructions for pairing with multiple students accounts using the iOs app here.

Student Spotlight
We love to learn and hear about the great things our students do and accomplish outside the school day! Please feel free to share these things with us so that we may highlight and recognize their accomplishments!
Please send highlights to wcbears@isdschools.org with Subject: Student Spotlight.
We will try to share as many stories as we can throughout the school year! If possible, please share a photo with us too!
Student Spotlight - Angelina Goodyear
Angelina Goodyear is a 9th grade student at William Chrisman High School. One of many ways that Angelina stands out is through her volunteer service. She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Community Gardens, completing community clean up, and spent many hours working to help organize a free clothing closet at St. Marks church. Her willingness to serve others definitely is a prime example of "Being a B.E.A.R." and we are proud to have her in our WCHS school community!

Days of No School to Schedule Appointments
Days with No School to Schedule Appointments
One of the most important ways a family can support their student's growth and learning is to make sure they are in attendance each day at school. There is absolutely no substitute for the quality of learning that takes place in a classroom led by an expert teacher with peers to collaborate with and share in the learning. There are many unpredictable events in life that can result in missing school, from simple sickness to family emergencies. It is important for our students' learning to make sure that for those events that are within our control, we are planning in ways that keep their attendance high and without interruption.
As a way to partner with families and help them with careful planning, here are the days that students are out of session for the 2023-2024 school year:
October: 9, 16, 23, 30
November: 7, 13, 27
December: 4, 1, 18, 25-29
January: 1, 2, 3, 15, 22, 29
February: 5, 12, 19, 26
March: 4, 11*, 18, 29
April: 1, 8*, 15, 22, 29*
May: 6, 13, 23*, 24*
*Potential make-up days for inclement weather
