Weekly Update
Principal's Message
We had a great Homecoming Week! Each morning we had Junior/Senior High athletes greeting our students cheering them on to a great day, along with dress up days that many of our students had fun with. On Friday, The high school cross country team ran the football game ball from Whitmore Lake High School back to the Pep Assembly at the Junior/Senior High, stopping at both Smith and Heritage along the way. Then many of our students participated in the Homecoming Parade.
This week we have parent teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM. Your student's teacher has sent out sign ups. During conferences we have a quick Family Engagement Survey that we would like you to take, however there is a link to the survey later in this newsletter if you would like to complete it sooner. We are looking for feedback so we can continue to improve and offer events that benefit our students and families.
Following Conferences, we get to enjoy our Fall Break. There is No School Friday, October 20 and Monday, October 23. Staff and Students return on Tuesday, October 24.
Please continue to encourage your students to keep their Pokemon cards and toys at home, so we can help to avoid the distraction. We appreciate your help with this matter!

Positivity Project
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Integrity. Integrity means you are honest and speak the truth. You present yourself genuinely and sincerely.
Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching. People with integrity practice what they preach and maintain a consistent pattern of behavior aligned with their values. They have the courage not to follow the crowd if it means going against their beliefs. Integrity is closely aligned with the terms of honesty and authenticity. People with integrity tell the truth and have alignment in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Integrity is vital to individual growth. It is correlated with a multitude of psychological well-being measures. Harmony in your feelings, thoughts, and actions makes you better able to personally grow and achieve goals. Authenticity and a lack of pretense make you more likable and trusted by others, meaning your relationships will benefit.
To practice and encourage the character strength of integrity with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
