Tuesday Notice

A milestone project for each lower grades class is the binding of their Main Lesson Books. Within each book are contained a years worth of stories and learning created by each child. At the ending of the school year the pages are taken out of workbooks, neatly stacked, and bound with flax thread. The resulting works are personal masterpieces and special remembrances to be treasured for years to come.

Dear Siskiyou School Parents,

We have arrived at the last week of school – so unbelievable!

In my heart I hope so much that all children and all families had another school year filled with many wonderful adventures, lessons, experiences, highlights, and precious moments with friends and teachers. Now the children are ready to move up to the next grade level and into their next class room for a new school year beginning in the fall.

And so, one school year ends and another one begins as we sing to our 8th grade graduates our traditional “Circle Game” song: “And the circles, they go round and round…”. We hope to see many of you there. Please see all details about graduation in the office section.

Thank you, parents, for all your support this year, for all your hard work volunteering and helping out in all corners of the school. The school runs so smoothly because of everything you all do: THANK YOU!!!

We will send one last email towards the end of June with the teacher line-up for next year, last details and also attaching the financial report of this school year.

Looking Ahead:

Friday, August 25: Campus Clean-up and Parent Work Party, 10:00 to 2:00 pm.

Tuesday, September 5th: First Day of 2023-24 School Year!

Classes 3-8 are REQUIRED to be at graduation, as those classes are part of the ceremony.

• ARRIVAL is at 4:45 on our campus to ensure we begin promptly at 5:00.
• Classes 1 & 2 are invited to attend and stay with their parents.

• Class 3: Students are required to attend. Students will be part of the beginning of the ceremony. Students will sit with their parents. Both parents of each student are invited; one parent will hopefully help with hosting the reception for the 8th grade parents; one parent can take their student home at the end of graduation.

• Class 4: Students are required to attend. Students will be part of the beginning of the ceremony. Students will sit with their CLASS.

• Classes 5-7: Students are required to attend. Students will be part of the beginning and the end of the ceremony. Students will sit with their teachers. We very much hope that at least one parent per student will attend the event.

Graduation Dress Code: Children should dress in “Sunday’s best”! Please note, that the weather promises to be sunny and warm. Plan to bring hats, sunscreen, and perhaps a water bottle.

Attendance at 8th Grade Reception:

The graduation ceremony itself is expected to end around 6:30 pm. After that, only 8th grade families and guests are to remain on campus.

Parking: Parking will be on Clay Street and in the Takelma neighborhood, not around Glendale. Please be mindful of the neighbors' driveways and park respectfully.

In case of weather: Please look for an email from the school with a plan for rain.

As the year draws to a close, MOVING DAY is upon us! This is the time after school on Friday, June 9th, when we gather as a community to help clean out the classrooms and move our students into their new space for next year! It takes MANY hands, but can be a satisfying way to close out the year. Please join us!

This year is special with the preparations for our new kindergarten! We will need extra help:

• Breaking down the Glendale Garden Tent.
• Moving things from the Glendale Garage to Pine Hall.
• Boxing up the library.

REMINDER: All June tuition is due by the 10th. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone that pre-ordered a yearbook! They will be delivered to the classrooms on Wednesday for signing Wednesday and Thursday.

If you did not order a yearbook during the sale, there are some extra that may be purchased on Thursday morning at drop-off (a table will be set up in the front lot). They are $20 each, cash or check ONLY. When the few extras are sold, you may order them from ProntoPrint (541 482-8098)to be printed on demand at their retail price.

This June, we are preparing to put our 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on Nova Drive on the market. It is located adjacent to the Takelma neighborhood, on a quiet, tree-lined street, just a short walk to Siskiyou School. The property is single story, about 1450 square feet with a lovely, grassy backyard and 7,000 sq ft lot.
