FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Last CSD Weekly Update for the 2022-2023 SY
This past year was our first full post-pandemic year, and returning to some semblance of normalcy was great. This past year also reminded us how much the pandemic impacted our students, staff, families, and community. I want to thank each of you for your continued support of Centennial School District. As I reflect on the past three years, I am reminded of how much has been accomplished:
- Aligning our curriculum with the state standards
- Updating our safety and security measures
- Improving both access and use of technology to support not only our students but our staff
- Improving our services to a growing diverse student body which now represents approximately 40 languages spoken representing about 48 countries
- Improved services in our ELD program, which has a growing population
- The significant academic growth our students are making based on our local assessments (i-Ready and IXL)
- The first year of our new middle school schedule as part of the Reimagine Middle School efforts
- Growth of our CVLA & SEAL program
- And much more that would make this list far too long
As we think about next school year, I am looking forward to the rollout of our new data warehouse, website and the focus shifting to the fidelity of implementing our teaching and learning program(s). As we break for the summer, I encourage each of you to rest, rejuvenate, enjoy the sunshine, and prepare for an outstanding 2023-2024 school year.
Thank you, Centennial, for a successful 2022-2023 school year. Be safe, and see you in August.
2023-24 Before and After Care Options for Elementary School Families
CSD’s Enhanced Elementary Schedule was approved by our Board of School Directors at the Committee of the Whole meeting on April 25, 2023. This schedule change is effective beginning Thursday, August 24, 2023, the first day of the 2023-2024 school year. It includes a shortened student day accomplished by moving the start time from 8:45 am to 9:00 am. This will impact the student morning drop-off time, which will move from 8:25 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
CSD offers before and after care at each of our elementary schools through our contracted provider, A Child's Place. Please see the registration and pricing information should you require this service for your child.
High Honors for the WTHS Class of 2023
Last week, William Tennent High School’s Commencement Ceremony was a wonderful celebration of the achievements of the Class of 2023. You can find the Commencement Program linked here. WTHS is pleased to honor the graduates of our prestigious Advanced Placement Capstone program. The AP Capstone program encourages students to pursue a rigorous academic path through design thinking and original research. This year, we honor 13 AP Capstone seniors. These students have earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.
Additionally, some of these graduates are candidates for the Capstone Diploma, pending scores in July. These students have taken four (4) or more AP courses and earned a score of 3 or better on the exam and the Seminar and Research Certificate. These students are denoted in the program as follows:
AP Capstone Diploma Recipient ^!
AP Capstone Diploma Candidate !
AP Seminar and Research Certificate Recipient ^+
AP Seminar and Research Certificate Candidate +
We are also happy to recognize our 2023 graduates who have achieved our highest levels of academic distinction.
- Eleven seniors were seated on the stage and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 or higher GPA.
- Eighty-five students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.6 or higher
- Seventy-two seniors graduated Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.3 or better this year.
These students can be found in the program with the following notations:
Summa Cum Laude *

They represent approximately 40% of our senior class. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication! Congratulations to all of our seniors who graduated on June 7, 2023. You are now members of the WTHS Alumni! #PantherProud

CSD's New Website Launching on June 23, 2023
Centennial’s decision to select Apptegy was, in part, driven by the company’s development of the first publishing platform for school districts so the District’s team can not only manage all communication channels from a single place but also provide the CSD internal and external users with a more engaging experience. One significant improvement will be the District’s soon-to-be-released mobile app which is specifically designed for use by iPhone and Android users that focuses on user experience. “As we continue to work on improving our communication and constituent experiences, one of our main focuses with selecting Apptegy is improving the degree of ease for our community to engage with CSD, including meeting ADA Priority 1 accessibility. This platform will make communicating with our students, staff, families, and the community much more effective and efficient. We will provide more information as we get closer to the official launch date.”

CENTENNIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT eFOLDER
Each year, more and more people and organizations are turning to our District to help get the message out about various activities, events, fundraisers, etc. The intent of this process is to support student achievement and to provide mutual assistance and benefit through shared information. Our district spends a great deal of time collecting, reviewing, and posting flyers to the District eFolder. The District no longer is posting eFlyers to any social media outlets or the District cable channel. You may refer to Policy 913 for additional information.
