Meet our newest 2nd Grade Teacher
Pleasant View Elementary 2022-23
Jerrilene Smith
Hi! My name is Jerrilene Smith, and I'm looking forward to joining the Pleasant View team. This will be my 29th year of teaching, and I am so glad to have the opportunity to return to the physical classroom after teaching virtually the past two years. I graduated from Northwest Nazarene University and have taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade. I love learning, and teaching gives me the opportunity to learn something new on a daily basis.
I love camping, boating/tubing, playing board and card games, watching movies, reading, studying the Bible, getting together with friends, and celebrating family traditions. I also enjoy spending time with my kids biking, going to the library, singing/playing instruments, and relaxing together.
I am the proud wife of Ivan Smith who is a mail carrier in Middleton. I have the privilege of being mom to Charilyn (20), Maxton (11), and Ivy (9). Charilyn will be earning her degree in Dental Hygiene this fall, and Maxton and Ivy will be in 5th and 4th grades. We also have a 5 year old Chihuahua named Cutie.
As a parent and teacher my goal is to support students as well as their families in the educational process. Teaching virtually opened my eyes to see how much children can take ownership of their schooling. However, it also allowed me to partner with parents to remediate and extend learning opportunities. The growth I have personally gained from the challenges of this past experience will help me to encourage my students in stretching their own skills. I definitely agree with the Pleasant View Motto: "We grow good things!"
I can't wait to grow and learn with your child this year!
