News From Us

As the members of the Tarsus American College community, home to young people who are committed to Atatürk's principles and reforms for 133 years, we commemorated Ataturk with high esteem, longing and gratitude on the 10th of November, Atatürk Memorial Day. The online assembly, which was prepared with the support of the Turkish Language and Literature Department, started at 9.05 with the sound of a 2-minute siren.

Following a moment of silence and the National Anthem, the commemoration ceremony continued with remarks by our vice principal, Mr. Soner Çarkçı. The presentations of students from different grade levels were very emotional, serving as a reminder of how Ataturk’s memory is still alive in young people’s minds.

The video which starts with a shot of the ceremony area continues with TAC students carrying the wreath to the Ataturk status on campus. We thank all students who contributed to the video.

Turkey U18 Chess Championship was held in Atatürk Cultural Center in Yenişehir, Mersin between 11-15 November 2021. Seyhan Belediyespor Club, under which our student Taylan Rüzgâr İnce played at the 2nd table in U18 category, achieved remarkable success by receiving the third national place. We congratulate Rüzgar and wish him continued success.

TAC’s Science and Technology Club hosted the first event of the Technology and Innovation Talks with the participation of Ozan Özhan, a graduate of TAC'91, under the title "A Success Story: From TAC to Microsoft".

After graduating from TAC in 1991, Ozan Özhan continued his academic career at Hacettepe and Bilkent Universities. He then started working at Microsoft, holding various positions for 21 years. Özhan is currently working as a Managing Software Engineer at Salesforce in the USA.

Students from TAC's science and technology clubs, Robotics Club, Artificial Intelligence Club and Girls in Tech club attended the face-to-face event held in TAC Maker Lab on Thursday, 11 November, 2021.

As an introduction, our graduate talked about his years at TAC, emphasizing the great impact of his education at TAC on his professional success. He then talked about the investments, visions and future plans of technology companies, the significance of the computer sciences itself as well as the need for well-qualified workforce in this area.

At the end of this interactive event, the students asked questions to Özhan and listened to his suggestions carefully.

The day, which was very productive and enlightening for the students, ended after taking a photo of the group in front of the Stickler building.
