We are Thankful for our ELC Families!
I also want to send a big thank you to the ELC staff who work so incredibly hard each day to ensure the experiences your children have are great ones and receive the services they require to fidelity. They are an incredible group of women who go above and beyond.
Have a very happy and relaxing holiday with your families :-) We will see you for Pajama Day/Cozy Day on Monday!

Absences
We made it through our Covid stretch at the beginning but are now smack dab in the middle of respiratory/RSV/flu season. If your child requires medication (Tylenol/Ibuprofen) for a fever they are not allowed in school until they are fever free with no medication for 24 hours. Calling out sick is an excused absence.
Please remember that if you are a community peer, 6 unexcused tardies and absences will result in a phone call home, 12 is a letter home and a meeting with administration to discuss ways to help increase attendance, and 20 could result in the removal from the program. Letters have already been going home to those who meet the criteria. It is not our intention to remove anyone from the program. We would like to work with you to ensure that your children receive the most out of the preschool experience.
Research has shown that PreK attendees had stronger literacy skills once they reached the first grade ( Haslip, 2018).
Classroom Spotlight: Occupational Therapy
Miss Nicole: I have been an occupational therapist for 19 years. I have worked at the Early Learning Center for the past 16 years. It has been such a privilege to work with the children and staff here at the ELC. Everyday is a new day working with children, you never know what their wonder and curiosity (and honesty) will bring! I love engaging children through developmental play, particularly through sensory experiences and developing hand skills. Making a connection with children and helping them reach their potential is so gratifying. It has been such a pleasure spending time in the classrooms and getting to know all the children! That is one of the best parts of my job! When I am not at the ELC, I love to walk, bike, and spend time with my family! I also love anything Disney and watching movies! My favorite quote is “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin). I look forward to another great year at the ELC!!
Miss Kerrie: I am the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at the ELC. I have been working in the ELC for the past two years and have been a OT assistant for five years. I am also a certified elementary teacher. I live in Rhode Island with my husband and three year old son. As a family we love to go to soccer games and visit local playgrounds.
Miss Kat: Hello, my name is Kathryn Wellman, and I am an Occupational Therapist. This is my first school year working at the ELC program and the students and staff are amazing! I love working with students and always knew that it was my passion. I love to come up with creative ways to motivate students to enjoy school and learning! I enjoy spending weekends with family and friends, going to the beach, traveling, hiking with my dog, and going to the movies.
