I ran across this article this weekend that must've been heaven sent because it appeared out of nowhere but I learned a lot from it.

Below are some excerpts and things I learned from the article "4 Things Great Principals Dont do" :

1.The Reminder - Reminding teachers we are all here for the kids

2. Another Task - When great principals ask teachers to do just one more thing that they are already sort of doing, they should take one other thing off teachers' desks.

3.) Blurred Lines - Effective Principals recognize the need for that fading into family time and refrain from sending school emails or other messages after hours and on weekends.

4.) The Magnifying Glass - Micromanagement is the enemy of teacher leadership.

Don't you just love the culture of our school? We have pick me ups all around the building.

• Loyalty is part of our higher nature and it is also part of the nature of leaders who achieve higher goals. The power of Loyalty is the reason I placed it in the center of the Pyramid's foundation.
  
• A leader who has Loyalty is the leader whose team I wish to be a part of. This is true almost everywhere. Most people, the overwhelming majority of us, wish to be in an organization or part of a team whose leadership cares about them, provides fairness and respect, dignity and consideration.
  
• Loyalty from the top inspires Loyalty from below. It is a most precious and powerful commodity and it starts with the leader.

Prepare all students to be competitive in a global society

Graduating holistically prepared students by providing rigorous curriculum, extracurricular activities, and multiple opportunities to cultivate student' innovation in order for communities to flourish

Key Action 1

The number of English I & II testers meeting "Approaches" level of performance will increase by 10% by May 2018

Key Action 2

The math department will increase Algebra I EOC scores by a minimum of :

5% on assessment data,15% in mastery, 10% increase on STAAR Retester success, and ACPs will increase by a minimum of 5%.

Key Action 3

The science department will increase Biology EOC scores by a minimum of 5% on STAAR Assessment Data, mastery will increase by 15%, LEP student success will increase by 15%, and ACP Average scores will increase by a minimum of 5%

Key Action 4

The Social Studies Department will increase U.S. History EOC Scores by a minimum of 5% on STAAR Assessment Data, mastery will increase by 35%, and semester ACP average scores will increase by a minimum of 5%.

1. All students will exhibit satisfactory or above performance on state assessments. Students below satisfactory performance will demonstrate more than one year of academic growth.
2. Dallas ISD schools will be the primary choice for families in the district.
3. The achievement gap by race, ethnicity and socio-economic status will be no greater than 10 percentage points on all academic measures.
4. Ninety-five percent of students will graduate. Ninety percent of the graduates will qualify for community college, college, military, or industry certification.
5. Ninety-five percent of students entering kindergarten will be school-ready based on a multidimensional assessment.
6. All students will participate in at least one extracurricular or co-curricular activity each year.

As we embark upon Interim Testing week, our Efforts in indicator 2.2 should indicate our students' comprehension for the content but it is how we use this data that will indicate how they perform on our interim exams. Here are a few reminders about D.O.Ls:

1.) It must be a seperate activity from what was completed during class

2.) Should be done Individually

3.) Should not exceed 5-10 minutes
