Our Mission:
Principal's Message
Over the last few weeks, we have recognized our teachers and nurses in the building. We are so grateful to have them and our other amazing staff here in the building. We are also very grateful for the students who walk these halls and have enjoyed seeing them interact more with their peers and with the material as we finish out the year.
The last few weeks of school are upon us. In Homeroom, students will be asked to set a goal for something they would like to accomplish between now and the end of the year. Taking the time to set short and long-term goals, and provide the steps to reach them, is one way we can continue to help our students grow into responsible adults. I would love it if you would ask them about what they chose later this week and how you can help them with their goal.
One of my goals is to continue to provide you with information in our weekly newsletter that you find helpful. If there is something that you have a question about and can't find the information on our website or in our newsletter, please email me at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu or call 360-398-8111.
Go Trojans!

Sara Meadows - Special Education
This is Ms. Meadows second year of working at Meridian High School and she says she absolutely loves the students and loves how involved everyone is in the school. When she was in high school she was also a dance teacher and she loved hanging out with kids and as she went through college she knew she wanted to be around kids. Now she loves building relationships with students and says that school can be a lot more fun when you get to know each other. But she also loves being able to prepare her students for the future and teach them necessary life skills. On another note Ms. Meadows also used to do some tutoring in the past. Ms. Meadows favorite free time activities include watching lots of Youtube and Netflix, taking walks, and hanging out with her nieces and nephews. Ms. Meadows also has two pets, a dog named Indie and and cat named Ember. She says her highlight from working at Meridian would be after online school she got to celebrate with her first class she had during the last week of school, she was really proud of them. Students say their favorite thing about Ms. Meadows is that "she is always able to stay positive," "has a very charismatic attitude," and one student said "after having her for the past year I feel like I've seen her grow in her teaching skills."
Jennifer Robins - Special Education
This is Mrs. Robin's first year teaching at Meridian and she says she loves the kids and her colleagues, she's had such a great experience with everyone. In the past Mrs. Robins used to be a bus driver so her schedule could match up with her kids schedules but she eventually enjoyed being with kids so much she went back to school to become a teacher. And now she loves watching students have exceptional growth after struggling for a little while especially if in the end they're able to graduate. Mrs. Robins favorite free time activities are riding motorcycles, reading, taking walks with her dogs, Lily and Bailee, and traveling. Mrs. Robins has been riding motorcycles since 2016. She also says that her favorite place she's traveled to is the Cook Islands, her dream travel destinations would be to Italy and Croatia. Outside of her classes Mrs. Robins is also the ninth grade leadership classes advisor and is part of a ninth grade success team which helps freshmen smoothly transition into high school. Mrs. Robins also has two sons, one of them is a commercial pilot and the other wants to become a private pilot. Mrs. Robins wanted to include that she enjoys working in her own community, she loves that Meridian district provides a community to the people around it and brings them together. Her highlight from working at Meridian would be finishing her IEP, which is individualized instruction for certain students. She also loves getting to work with the ninth grade leadership class and help them plan things. Students say their favorite thing about Mrs. Robins is that "she's really kind," "is always calm and collected," and is "always willing to help."

National Barbecue Day
National Barbecue Day is celebrated every May 16. Barbecues are one of America’s favorite pastimes. Since the activity is highly common in the U.S., it is no surprise that a special day has been dedicated to celebrating the barbecuing tradition.
Although the concept of barbecuing did not originate in America, the activity has become an essential part of American culture today. The history of barbecuing in the U.S. goes back to colonial times where any celebration was incomplete without a cookout. After the Revolutionary War was won and the first bridge was built over the Missouri River, barbecue celebrations erupted all over the nation. Even the American presidents are famous for hosting massive barbecues during times of success and on days of special observances. In fact, George Washington’s diary is said to have referenced a barbecue event that lasted for three days — that’s how deeply rooted barbecuing is in the country’s history!
Request Transcripts Through Parchment
Meridian High School has partnered with parchment.com to fulfill transcript requests for current students and MHS alumni. Transcripts are securely sent electronically to colleges and universities across the nation, resulting in a reduction of lost documents at the financial aid offices. The service is free of charge to current students. Alumni pay a small fee. Please make sure that your intended college accepts electronic transcripts.
Please find the “Order transcripts through Parchment” link under Families & Students/Resources on the MHS website. Current students may call Mrs. Brinkman or Mrs. Waterman to receive their Parchment access code at the MHS office 360-398-8111.
