We Are Easton
Superintendent Information
Dear Jaguar Families,
Please note that we have no school on Monday January 15 in observation of MLK Day.
Another item for your calendars, with the weather related school closure day on Tuesday January 9th, we will now have a school day on Friday January 26th with Early Release at 1:00 pm for students per the Easton School District Calendar. I have also attached an "updated" Easton School calendar for your information. Hopefully, this our one and only closure day.
We are also in the process of reviewing our communication methods and our communication tools. To help of communicate more effectively and ensure you are getting the information you need, please consider completing the brief survey that is linked below. The data will help us make informed decisions on moving forward and implementing new tools.
I would like to try to "re-launch" our Parent Advisory group(JAG) here at Easton. Last year, several JAG meetings were held but attendance dropped off significantly after the first couple of meetings so I postponed the remainder of the meetings.
Lastly, I would like to mention that January is School Board Appreciation month. At Easton we are very lucky to have four(soon to be five) volunteers that make up our school board. It is a volunteer position that takes considerable time/effort and at times can be a thankless job. Please join in thanking Jen Phillips, Jason Meuli, Phil Meehan, and Chris Helgeson for the work on the Easton School Board. They above all, want what is best for the students at Easton School and I feel very lucky to serve at their superintendent.
Thank you and Go Jags!

Technology Grant Award
Happy to announce that Easton School has been awarded $7500 grant from the Suncadia Fund for Community Enhancement and the Shoemaker Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of the Suncadia Fund, and the Shoemaker Foundation we are in the process of purchasing several 3-D printers, software and materials in order to launch a Design Technology class for 2nd semester. Plans are also being developed to begin an after school Technology Club in order to have more interested students involved. Many thanks to Suncadia and the Hein Legancy for their grant award!!
Easton Environmental Research Project
As part of the Outdoor Education Grant we received this Fall, Easton School will be conducting a research project studying the impact of Interstate 90 on the school.
The project is being developed by Dr. Cheryl Lewis from Washington State University, who also happens to be the mother of Jessica Lewis, our ELA and social studies teacher. In addition, Dr. Lewis is working with fellow researcher Dr. Azita Amiri from the University of Alabama (Huntsville).
With the grant funding, Easton has purchased several high-caliber sensors that will collect data on indoor/outdoor noise levels, indoor/outdoor air quality, particulate matter, soil samples, drinking water, mold, as well as weather related data.
Students in our science and math classes will be collecting the data and then doing follow-up data interpretation and analysis. The plan is to collect data March-Mid May. The overall goal of the project is to have better information/data on the impact that Interstate 90 has on our students and staff and hopefully have the students' research published.
Our staff is very much looking forward to having our students work on this “real-world” research project.
