A special thanks to our parent volunteers who stepped in to make sure the kids had something to eat!
Hey Band Parents!
The band officers threw a fantastic party for the 250+ kids that attended on Friday afternoon! They had so much fun drinking hot chocolate (homemade by amazing band parents!) and eating snacks and cake and pizza and watching Polar Express.
The band officers' initial plan for the party did not include the pizza, however, once the kids arrived we realized that because it was an early release day, most of the kids had not had lunch and they needed more to eat than just snacks and desserts!
So the parent volunteers that were working the party went ahead and ordered 40 pizzas to feed the 250 band kids that were there! 🍕🍕🍕
We are sharing this info with you because there was no budget for pizza, and the parents that picked up the pizza footed the bill for all of the pizza.
So we were hoping some of y'all might be willing to pitch in towards the cost of the pizza, we would really appreciate it!
Even $5, $10, $20 would help!
Here is Venmo/PayPal/Zelle info if you'd like to pitch in: Nikki Wilson, @purelifelegacy, 469-939-2231. Please just put pizza in the memo line! Thank You!
Congrats!
Congratulations to all of the students who have advanced to Area auditions in January! We will have more information for rehearsals in your back to school newsletter in the new year. You should have upcoming information and practice assignments from your directors in webex. Have a great break! Practice, practice, practice! 🎶
Volunteer Central
Thank you to everyone who volunteered over the last 5 months! You are a huge part of the bands’ success, thank you for all you do!!
- Region Band Clinics and Concerts are coming up in January, and we will need volunteers to chaperone on January 12 & 13. Please see the signup for all the details.
- We’ve started working on the Band Golf Tournament fundraiser that will be taking place at the end of May. We have a new golf tournament lead and a whole new team running it this year, and it’s going to be fabulous, but there are a lot of details that go into hosting a tournament and we could really use some more help. In particular, we could us more help with the sponsor/donor/silent auction parts of the tournament. This has the potential to raise a lot of money for the band, so please come help us make it a huge success! If you’d be interested in helping, please e-mail Nikki Wilson at volunteers@hebronband.org or Sarah Durrant at fundraising@hebronband.org.
If you have any questions reach out to Nikki Wilson at volunteers@hebronband.org

Congratulations to our very own @CreekValleyBand, Kim Hawbaker-Cooley. The @theHebronBand celebrates your longstanding excellence and recognition as a 2023 Creek valley Middle School Teacher of the Year recipient! It is well deserved.
The Creek Valley Bands - including the non-varsity and beginning bands - enjoy much success and receive recognition under Kim’s leadership. The Honor Winds consistently receive superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-reading contests. In addition, they have received top ratings and Best in Class awards at Peak Festivals, North Texas Festival of Distinction, and have been named a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence Contest. The non-varsity band enjoys success at the UIL Contest and the Beginning Band was recently selected as Outstanding Band of the Day at the NRH2O Music Festival. Individual student honors are the norm as well - Creek Valley regularly places many students in the all-district and all-region bands and solo contestants bring home many blue-ribbon medals.
On the state and national level, the Creek Valley Band has been named a finalist in the TMEA Honor Band competition, and the 2022 performance at The Midwest Clinic was the second performance by this band under Kim’s direction - the Creek Valley Band also performed at The Midwest Clinic in 2016. The Creek Valley Band was named 2023 Exemplary Band by the Texas Bandmasters Association.
Kim finds time to serve as a UIL judge across the state, UIL Region 2 officer and during the summer months she has taught band camps in Lewisville, McKinney, and Keller. Kim is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association. She and her husband Nathan, also a band director in Lewisville ISD, are parents to two four-legged kids, Piper and Marvel, who keep them busy and entertained! lebrates your recognition and excellence as a 2023 Creek valley Middle School Teacher of the Year recipient! Thanks for doing it all for the kids. We honor you. #AIATT
