Class of 2021 Upate
January 26, 2021
From Mr. Hegen
1. Be their biggest cheerleader
2. Support them and give them a voice
3. Communicate with them regularly
I believe that our team has accomplished these goals and many more!
The senior year can be filled with uncertainty about the future, a desire to speed up the process to graduation day, and a focus change to what lies before them. At this point, we have heard hundreds of success stories about getting into the post-secondary institution of their choice, completing the work in their classes, and now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As parents, you will see some changes in your child(ren) as they continue to seek independence, seem to know many more answers, and are now changing their focus to life after high school. It is important that, as a team, we help maintain focus through the finish line!
Be well!
Graduation
End of the Year Activities
SENIOR ACADEMIC AWARDS DINNER – Each year, typically, the top 10% of the senior class is honored with dinner & ceremony. The planning of this event surrounding our Safety Plan for Covid-19 will be taken into consideration. We are unsure if there will be a live dinner this year. Seniors whose 3rd quarter cumulative weighted GPA is in the Top Ten Percent of the senior class are invited to attend.
SENIOR AWARDS CEREMONY – Each year individual members of the community, businesses, organizations, district staff, departments, and schools sponsor awards for the graduating class. Seniors who have been selected to receive these scholarships and awards are invited to attend the Senior Awards Ceremony in the spring.
Seniors are given the opportunity to apply for several of the awards presented. Information regarding applying to these “Pennridge Community Scholarships and Awards” will be shared in late February/early March.
The event planning is beginning, we will look at our options for having the event in person or virtually.
SUMMA, MAGNA AND CUM LAUDE RECOGNITION – Seniors who have earned a 3rd quarter cumulative weighted GPA according to the following criteria, will be recognized at graduation with a special stole and a notation next to their name in the graduation program.
Summa Cum Laude 4.2 and higher
Magna Cum Laude 3.9 to 4.19
Cum Laude 3.6 to 3.89
Cap and Gown Information
The students were sent a link via Canvas Class of 2021 Page to complete the Microsoft Form to gather their height, weight, color preference, etc for the ordering of the cap and gown. The school district pays for the items, so no need to send us money! Please remind your child(ren) to complete the form ASAP.
2nd Semester Lunch Release
Seniors who have a study hall before OR after their lunch period can be given this privilege.
We do not rearrange schedules for this to happen. If you did this for the first semester, you will not need to resend the notice.
If you approve of your child having Lunch Release, please email Mrs. Rock and she will keep a record and let the study hall teachers know that this is happening.
If a student returns late to their next class, two times, the privilege will be revoked.
The students may only re-enter at the main office doors. If they are found having someone open another door for them, they will have the privilege revoked.
***PLEASE NOTE, THIS PRIVILEGE CAN AND WILL BE REVOKED IF ATTENDANCE AND UNSATISFACTORY GRADES BECOME AN ISSUE!***
