You are invited! This Saturday, February 3rd, we are having an Open House, in honor of Jay Blacksher and his ER team. Jay has cared for and served our community providing advanced, state of the art emergency care services for the past 30 years. We as a community were so very fortunate to receive his care over the years as he brought tremendous knowledge, experience and his advanced skill set to our small town. Unfortunately, Jay and his team are no longer practicing at the hospital.
Please join us this weekend and help us give thanks, celebrate, and honor him and his team. We would love to see you there!

Local Kid, Andrew Carter, has declared for the NFL Draft
Hello, my name is Andrew Carter. I am reaching out to you today with an exciting opportunity on the horizon; the chance to participate in the NFL Draft Process.
For the ones that have been around you know, this is a crucial step towards achieving my dream of playing professional football, and I am asking for your support in making it a reality.
The NFL Draft Process is an incredible opportunity for me to display my skills, dedication, and athleticism to scouts, coaches, and agents. It's a chance to take a significant step forward in pursuing my dream to be a professional athlete. So far, I have been a 3x Frontier All-Conference (OL), 2x NAIA All-American (OL), 2022 NAIA Rimington Award Winner.
Unfortunately, the costs associated with participating can be significant. Expenses include registration fees, travel costs, accommodations, training, and equipment - all of which can add up quickly. As an individual working towards this goal, the financial burden can be overwhelming.
By contributing, you will not only be helping me cover the necessary expenses, but you will also be an integral part of my journey. Your generosity will enable me to fucus on my training and performance, knowing that I have the support of a community rallying behind me.
For me, this opportunity represents years of hard work, dedication, and unwavering passion for football. It's a chance to pursue my lifelong dream and make strides towards a career in professional football. With your support, I am confident that I can take this opportunity and display the skills and determination that have brought me to this point.
I am incredibly grateful for any contribution, large or small, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks in advance to you. Your support means more to me than works can express, and I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and representing you all to the best of my ability.
I will keep you updated on my progress every step of the way and will be forever grateful for your kindness and belief in my potential. Thank you sincerely for considering and supporting my dream. Together, we can make this dream a reality.

Idaho Raptor Barbell Club
On January 13th the Idaho Raptor Barbell Club (IRBC) (made up of students who attend the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind) Coached by Mr. Brian Floyd, travelled to Ontario, Oregon to compete in the High Desert Open Powerlifting meet. The meet was put on by the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA). Each lifter competes within an age, and body weight category.
The IRBC took 7 lifters to the meet. Four of those lifters competed in the “Full Power” portion of the meet, meaning they did all three lifts, (bench, deadlift, and squat) while 3 of the lifters did a “Push-Pull” meet where they only participated in bench and dead lift.
In the “Push-Pull” category George Highwalking, Ponchito Trujillo, and Draven Hazelwood took home first place in both categories for their weight class. Ponchito was also awarded the “Most Inspirational Lifter” of the meet.
The four lifters who competed in the “full power” division were Ethan Orbe, Jullieanna Torres, Merveille Mandala, and Olivia Wade.
Jullieanna, Merveille, and Olivia placed first in their respective divisions while, Ethan placed 2nd in his division.
The IRBC would like to thank the local community of Gooding for their donations to help pay for the meet. We would also like to thank the teachers, staff, and administration at The Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind for their unwavering support.

🐮 Gallup Family Farms Soap Subscription Boxes
Mel Gallup is introducing her new soap subscription boxes!!! This is something that I have wanted to do over the past 7 years but never found the time to really figure out how to pull it off. Now I have!! This is something that has been asked of me from people near and far so I hope that this will be exciting for some of you as it is for me!!
This is for anyone that loves soap, loves all the smells, wants something different with each package and wants the convenience of not going to go get it. This could be perfect for those of you that are not local but want a supply of soap or for a loved one that loves homemade soaps. I have developed the subscriptions for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. Of course the longer you sign up you save a little. Please note that the cost will cover having the soap come right to your door.
You will receive one of my "old faithfuls". The soaps that can withstand the sands of time and that are a customer favorite time and time again. The other soap will be something special to the season in which it is being sent, a popular scent that I don't make very often or a completely never seen before scent. I'm hoping it will allow me to get back to my roots, allow me to play with techniques and layouts and you get the rewards of different soaps and, the results of new or different skill sets, and new scents. Subscribers may be the only recipients of these soaps as I only plan to make them for the subscriptions.
With each one of your shipments you will get a description card that tells the inspirations behind the soaps, any story related to the process of making the particular soap and a detailed description of the scent. Allowing you to see if you can pick out each element of that scent. Also there will be a special something with your first box that I will be sending.😉I will let that remain a surprise for those of you that order.
This will be part of my 10 year celebration come March. The first shipment of subscription boxes will happen the week of March 11th. The soaps have already been made and if you have been paying attention you can probably guess the first soaps to go out but if not it will be a surprise! Any pictures used to promote the subscription boxes will not be of the soap to be sent. 😉
Report Potholes
The snow may be behind us, but crews will be working to address potholes. Potholes form as melting snow and ice seep into the pavement, then freeze and expand, causing gaps to form. Oce the ice melts, the fractured pavement cannot support the weight of passing cars, causing potholes.
We encourage our residents to report a pothole whenever they see one. Once they are reported, we do our best to fill them. The City does not maintain Main Street. If you are calling to report a pothole on Main Street you will need to contact the Idaho Transportation Department.
Potholes can be reported to City Hall at (208) 934-5669 or by emailing info@goodingidaho.org

Message from Mayor Diane Houser
Hello Gooding Citizens,
We sure had a few days of nonstop snow, winter storms and blizzard warnings. Thank God it wasn't worse. A big thank you to our city road crew and our water/sewer department that came together to plow and sand our roads. They did a fantastic job! I can still see the picture on Facebook of one of the county road crew workers that his wife took. He was sound asleep halfway on his bed. They worked a lot of long hours. Also, a big thank you to our community members for coming together to help each other. It was great to see everyone working together to help each other. A lot of people were snow bound and their neighbors came to the rescue. Great Job Gooding!
Our Public Works Director has applied for a TAP Grant. If we receive this grant it will pay for new sidewalks on Main Street from the Hwy 26/46 junction to 10th Ave. These sidewalks will be put in at the same time that the Idaho Transportation Department is replacing Main Street. This work is estimated to begin in 2026. As a reminder, sidewalks are the homeowners/property owner's responsibility to keep them maintained. Some of the sidewalks are difficult for people, strollers, walkers, etc. to navigate on.
Prior to the work that ITD will be doing, we will also be replacing the main water line on the south end of Main Street. The old pipes will be replaced with larger pipes. As you have seen our water/sewer department working numerous times fixing the old pipes. Our engineers are working on getting the plans together. There will be a lot of different projects going on in Gooding over the next couple of years. In our next newsletter we should hopefully have some new information about the river wall project.
Have a Happy St. Valentine's Day.
Diane Houser, Mayor
