Chula Vista High School - Home of Champions!
Week 7 August 29th to September 4th
Message from the Principal
Good Morning Spartans,
I hope you had a restful weekend. Today we start our seventh week of the school year, the semester is well underway. This Friday, September 2nd, students will get their first progress report card of the year. Grades will be posted and available for you to see by 8:00 am through the Infinite Campus portal. This first progress report serves as a good indicator of how our students are currently doing, both academically and in citizenship. I encourage our parents/guardians to check the progress report grades and have a conversation with their students about them. If students are doing well, encourage them to keep working hard. If the progress report shows that they are struggling, I advise you to reach out to our teachers to see what specific areas your student needs support in. Keep in mind, we do offer free tutoring in the morning and after school.
I would also like to invite you to our first Coffee with the Principal and Title I parent meeting this Friday September 2, 2022 at 9:00am. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, so yo may attend in person, or via Zoom. Those in attendance will be able to receive a hard copy of their student's progress report card. The meeting will be held in the College and Career Center, located in our main office building. If you plan on attending in person, please make sure you follow our COVID-19 protocols.
Have a great week!
Go Spartans!

Did You Know?
Year after year, our SCPA students are invited to perform at many events throughout the state. This past week, our students from Main Attraction were asked to perform at one of the coolest events of the year, the San Diego County Salute to Teachers. This is the awards ceremony where the County Teacher of the Year winners are announced. This year, two of Sweetwater's best teachers were finalists, Chula Vista Middle School's very own Ms. Taffy Tom and Castle Park Middle School's Ms. Melissa Rains. I have had the opportunity to work with both Ms. Tom and Ms. Rains, and they are phenomenal! And a huge congratulations from Sparta to Ms. Rains for being selected as County Teacher of the Year.
Alternative Household Income Survey
Dear SUHD Parents,
You've been invited to participate in a very important survey that will impact your child's school funding and support services next year. A school's State and Federal funding is based on the number of eligible Alternative Household Income forms that are submitted each year. This determines how much funding your child's school will receive the following year, which allows for implementation of academic support programs and resources to support student academic success.
Resources and benefits for your child include:
Academic supports: tutoring and intervention programs after school and Saturdays
Classroom supplies and instructional materials
Classroom technology equipment and instructional software
High Schools:
Waivers for high school college admission exams
Fee-reduced high school exams (AP and IB exams)
Fee-reduced college applications
This survey will include the following two questions and a required E-signature:
Number of people living in the home?
Total Monthly Income?
To access this survey log onto your district's Infinite Campus Parent Portal at Https://campusportal.sweetwaterschools.org and select the survey link in your inbox.
This survey will be accepting responses from 07/01/2022 until 06/30/2023.
SUHSD COVID Protocols
Please make sure you also familiarize yourself with our COVID protocols:
- When indoors vaccinated staff and all students are strongly recommended to wear a face mask.
- Unvaccinated staff and adult visitors must wear masks when in the presence of others indoors.
- In classrooms with immunocompromise staff or students, we are asking the classroom communities to please support each other by wearing masks when indoors.
An exception where staff or students will be required to wear masks at this point is after they are returning to school following exposure to COVID. These additional protocols are our best way to ensure we can keep our students and staff on campus and engaged in learning this school year.
