Q: What is Academic UIL?

A: The University Interscholastic League offers the most comprehensive program of academic competition in the nation. UIL Academics offers more activities than any other UIL division, with 30 contests at the high school level and 20 A+ Academic contests for grades 2-8. More than half a million students participate in UIL academic contests each year. At the Elementary level in Austin ISD, students participate in the follow categories: Spelling, Ready Writing, Number Sense, and Social Studies.

Q: How do I learn more about UIL at Mills?

A: Ms. Rasmussen (librarian) is our UIL coordinator. If you are interested in learning more about signing up your Mountain Lion OR volunteering to help teachers coach an event, reach out to her at sarah.rasmussen@austinisd.org.

Please make sure you help support the wonderful learning opportunities here at Mills by paying the one-time Enrichment Fees. These funds help pay for our STEM teacher and Maker Space Maestro, Sara Sanchez, as well as our Global Studies/World Languages teacher, Miriam Palomo. It also helps us purchase additional student learning resources and supplies for all PreK-5th grade students and classrooms!

So far, 75% of enrichment fees have been paid. Please help us get to 100% by October 1st! If you haven't paid your child(ren)'s enrichment fees yet, visit the QR codes below for a simple way to take care of it in minutes!

Enjoy being around students? Want to help us with keeping the lunchroom a safe and fun place for students to eat their food and enjoy being around peers? Come volunteer in the Mills lunchroom!

We need YOU in the lunchroom to pass out utensils, help students open milk cartons and food items, and manage the overall lunchroom dining experience of our wonderful Mountain Lions.
