Principal Message
Dear Oscar Howe Families,
Happy Fall! The change in temperature this week sure feels like fall is here. We have loved having students and staff back in the classrooms learning and building a positive classroom community. Thank you for helping students get back into the routine of school, especially with our 7:40 a.m. start time!
We practice being part of the Oscar Howe P.A.C.K. as part of our building-wide expectations. We would encourage you to incorporate these same skills at home, so students see these are great skills no matter what environment they are in. Here are a few ways you may consider celebrating the P.A.C.K at home.
P - Perseverance Point out a time your child kept trying even when things get hard or challenging.
A - Accountability Celebrate a time your child did what they were asked right away!
C - Control Have your child(ren) share a time they were able to maintain self-control.
K - Kindness Ask your child when someone at home has shown them kindness.
We look forward to seeing our families back in the building for Fall Parent teacher conferences on October 11th and 13th. More information will be coming out soon. This is a great opportunity for teachers and parents/guardians to meet and discuss your child(ren)’s progress.
~ Mrs. DeVries
Reminder from the Office:
Students Arriving Late: If your student will be late to school and will want school lunch or "hot" lunch as we frequently call it, we ask that you call the school by 8:30 am to have this ordered (605-362-2752) from the central kitchen. If we are unaware that your student is coming in late we will not order a lunch which means we will be short at meal time. Thank you.
