Smart Phone users can download a "PowerSchool for Parents" app. Our school code is ZBSR; you will also need your Parent Portal log-in and password. The app is a neat tool available for your use and now is the perfect time to download it!

Vaccination Notice for 2022 Seniors

Students who will be seniors during the school year 2021-2022 must have a meningococcal conjugate vaccination (MCV4) on record with our school nurse before their senior year. We suggest you call the doctor's office ahead of time to make sure an appointment is scheduled in the time frame you need.

It would be helpful if documentation for this vaccination was turned in prior to May 25th. If this immunization is not on file, your student will not be able to pick-up their schedule and parking pass in August. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail our school nurse, Kelly Reichel, at kreichel@blairoaks.org. The record may be faxed to the high school office at 573-635-6327.

Winterfest Week, Jan. 11-15

Winterfest Court: Winterfest Court will be playing special games throughout the week. The King, Queen, Prince, and Princess will be crowned at the basketball game the evening of January 15th, Blair Oaks vs. Versailles.

Assembly, Dance, Volleyball Tourney: These events will not be held this year due to Covid and weather restrictions (i.e. no outside dance).

Dress Up Days: Start planning now! Each day of Winterfest Week is a different dress-up day. If you plan to dress up every day, submit a photo of yourself each day for the chance to win a $50 gift card of your choice.

This week will be jam-packed with a bunch of school spirit and games. See flyer for more details.

Nichols applications due Jan. 15

Message for Sophomores:

Any sophomore interested in going to Nichols Career Center next year needs to stop by the Counselor's Office to get an application. Applications are due next Friday, January 15th!

Message for Juniors:

Any junior interested in the Health Program at Nichols Career Center for your senior year should stop by the Counseling Office to get an application. Applications are due Friday, January 15th!

ASVAB Test, Jan. 19, for Juniors & Seniors

Message for Juniors and Seniors:

The ASVAB will be given next Tuesday, January 19th, at 8:30 a.m. in the library. Students signed up to take the ASVAB when Mrs. Burns visited English classes last semester. If a student did not sign-up at that time, they may still do so via Mrs. Shanley's announcement in their Google classroom. Deadline for sign-up is Thursday, January 14th.

The ASVAB, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, measures student's strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether students choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career.

Please be sure your student is present on January 19th. If you have questions, feel free to email Mrs. Shanley at jshanley@blairoaks.org.

Boys State, Jan. 22 Deadline

Attention Junior Boys:

Are you interested in attending Boys State this summer? The 81st Session of MBS will be held June 12-19, 2021 on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO Students who attend Boys State are eligible for over $2 million in scholarships and can earn college credits through the University of Central Missouri.

To learn more about Boys State, sign up in the Google classroom to attend the informational meeting via zoom in the library on Tuesday, January 26th at 8:15 am. Please bring your charged Chromebook to the meeting. After the meeting, juniors wishing to apply for Boys State will have the chance to complete the application online. The sign-up deadline is Friday, January 22nd.

Girls State, details to come!

Attention Junior Girls:

Sometime in the last two weeks of January, representatives from the American Legion Auxiliary will be at school to interview junior girls who are interested in applying to attend Girls State. Girls State will be held June 20-26, 2021 on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. Students who attend Girls State are eligible for over $2 million in scholarships and can earn college credits through the University of Central Missouri. For more information about Girls State visit missourigirlsstate.org. Once the date has been set for interviews, there will be a sign up in Google classroom. Details to come soon.

Yearbooks for 2020-2021 can be ordered online or via a Yearbook member. If ordered now, the purchase price is $35.00. When purchasing online, Jostens' offers additional items (i.e. clear protective cover, photo pockets, etc.).

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We hope you had a great holiday break!

We would like to thank you for your generous and creative donation of gift cards for our high school staff. It was so much fun, and the staff loved it! The gift cards were wrapped in solo cups that served as ornaments on our snowman tree. Each staff member was able to choose a cup to punch out and received the gift card inside it.

While it has not been the easiest of years, you made it extra special for our staff. You are more appreciated than you know!
