Language Support Assistants from China, France, and Spain, are so important to the culture and instruction at our school. We are so thankful to Mrs. Robyn Brandman for her service as Host Family Liaison from 2018-2023!

The Host Family Liaison helps with matching families with candidates, as well as planning for new interns from China, France, and Spain, and helping with cultural questions that may arise.

Please do not approach Lower Campus from the Briarcliff Rd end of Heritage Drive. Instead, approach the school as follows:

From the south

Use Fisher Trail/Meadowvale Drive, which becomes Heritage Drive.

From the north
Use Briarwillow or Oakawana to Heritage Drive.

Upper Campus:

Black History Month

Preliminary preparation for the Black History Program has begun. Just like our other cultural celebrations there will be various ways for our students and parents to get involved. One area that Miss Quarterman and a group of students will be exploring is hair and fashion. We're looking for parent volunteers who would like to help or have connections in the hair/fashion industry. Please contact Miss Quarterman if you would like to help.

5th grade parents be on the lookout for a video of your talented student from Miss Quarterman. It will be sent in the grade level weekly newsletter.

Become a Parent Ambassador!

Admissions season is underway and we are in need of your assistance! If you are excited about all of the magic happening at The GLOBE Academy would love for you to be a Parent Ambassador. As an ambassador, you would serve as a school tour guide, potential translator and/or a parent representative at marketing/informational events.

If you are interested in lending your time and your voice we would be delighted to have you on board. Sign up here to be a Parent Ambassador at Upper Campus, or Sign up here to be a Parent Ambassador at Lower Campus.

The goal is to have at least one parent per track per tour date. We have a number of open spots and would appreciate it if you would register for one of them. Thank you to all the parents who have registered to assist. We truly appreciate you lending your time.

Come pick up your GLOBE yard sign!

We are asking families to display a GLOBE yard sign in your front yard or in a high traffic area of your neighborhood. Please click here to arrange to pick up your sign! Thank you to all families that have already picked up signs.

If you have picked up a sign but did not register, please be sure to add your information to the registration list, here. This will enable us to collect the signs at the end of February for re-use.

Black History Month Volunteers Needed

Fundraising Planning Meeting

Join us for our spring fundraising event brainstorming and planning meeting on Thursday, January 12 at 7:00pm via Zoom. Meeting ID: 879 2715 3745. Password: GLOBE. Last year’s Auction online and at Wild Heaven Brewing raised $80,000+ for GLOBE events, facilities, and faculty support.

Target Language Book Fair for spring 2023

We would like to be able to have a mini book fair with French, Mandarin, and Spanish books in the spring. To make this happen, we need someone who will lead this effort. If you are interested in taking this on, please email PTCC by January 23.

There are several ways we communicate with GLOBE families, and we are continuing to work to improve their effectiveness. In addition to this newsletter, be sure the channels below are on your radar.

• Weekly teacher emails: Every Friday, you will receive an email from each of your child's teachers, with details on what they're doing at school. Not receiving these? Please let us know. (You can of course email the teachers with any questions, too.)
  
• Remind text alerts: Remind is a service that we use to send time-sensitive alerts via text message. (There's also an app available.) If you haven't yet signed up for this, please do so by texting @globers to 81010 for whole school updates.
