Message for the Week: Twitter Challenge
This article shows you how to connect your Twitter and Facebook accounts so that your Tweets and Retweets will automatically post to your Facebook wall.
To connect your Twitter account and your Facebook profile
- Log in to the Twitter account you want to associate with your Facebook profile.
- Go to your Settings menu's Apps tab.
- Click Connect to Facebook.
- If you are not already logged in to Facebook, then you will be prompted to enter your Facebook login credentials. Enter your credentials and click Log in to sign in to Facebook.
- You will then receive a prompt explaining that Twitter will receive certain information from your Facebook account. In order to continue, you must select “Okay.”
- You will then be prompted to select the privacy settings for who will see your Tweets and Retweets posted to your Facebook wall. It is set to friends by default.
- Click “Okay” to complete the process.
- Your Tweets and Retweets will now post to your profile Facebook wall and your username will be displayed there as well. Replies will not be posted.
Now, when I post to the Concord Twitter page, it will share the picture on my FB page. The power of pictures is incredible. It allows our community to see what is happening in our schools. Are you up for the challenge?
Weekly Updates:
Parent Teacher conferences will Monday and Wedenesday of this week. Our wonderful PTG will be providing dinner both nights in the lounge.
Recommending a Student for LEAP: After speaking extensively with Mike, here are my suggestions on recommending a student for leap.
- First, identify those students that you think would benefit from LEAP testing. Email their names to Mike, Cathy, and myself.
- In addition, inform parents that they will have to go online to complete the parent recommendation form. The link is found on the district homepage under programs and Gifted Education. You can also send this link to them.
- We will do both parts of this process so that we have the correct names of who we (teachers and parents) would like to be tested AND have parent permission because they have completed the online recommendation form
Bus Evacuations: Students will be practicing bus evacuations in the morning on Tuesday. They may be a little late arriving to class. Thank you!
District Walkthroughs will be on Wednesday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. We will be using this walkthrough form as we are visiting your classrooms.
Random FYI: I will be having surgery to repair a torn meniscus on Friday, November 3rd. I only anticipate being out the early part of the following week but just wanted to keep you in the loop.
Tips for Successful Conferences
Topics to Possibly Cover
- Be sure to share positives and strengths of the child
- Subject specific feedback
- Ideas for what parents can do at home to support learning
Setting the Mood
- Create a comfortable environment- adult-sized chairs, soft, relaxing music, calming scents, etc.
- Table to talk with paper and pens in case parents want to take notes
- Sign posted outside the room with your schedule and a "Conference in Progress" sign on the door to prevent interruptions
- Samples of student work and/or a way for parents to share comments back to their child
Reflection Opportunities
This is a great time to have students do a bit of self reflection. Here are some sample sheets:
