Finalized Senior Information

Dear Parents and Students,

I find myself writing this update with a heavy heart. We began this week extremely hopeful of a graduation ceremony that could occur sooner than later after our state government drastically loosened Covid-19 restrictions. However, today we have learned that Greene County will remain restrictive in their allowances for large groups. Currently they have set the limit to just 15 people through May 31st. Additionally, they have advised against planning any ceremonies through the month of June. We have exhausted all ideas and avenues to ensure that graduation occurred at the earliest possible date. I am heavily burdened by the fact that we have students who will be reporting for military and other requirements shortly after our originally scheduled graduation date. Due to the restrictions placed on us as a school district within Greene County we have to officially set our graduation date for July 24th at 8:00 PM. The ceremony will take place at the high school football field.

Enclosed is a timeline of important dates. With each of these dates we will release more information as we get closer.

I would ask that if your child will be effected by the July graduation date that you please notify me so that we can begin preparing a way to recognize those who will not be able to be with us on the 24th.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding in this very difficult and trying situation. Your response during this unprecedented time has been greatly appreciated.

This will be a modified athletic signing day to stay within the guidelines of Green County. Mr. Overstreet will be contacting you in the coming days to outline our plan to honor our seniors signing letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level.

There will be a private ceremony for our 16 highest ranking students at 7:00 PM. More information will be sent directly to those families.

In order to honor our seniors and their originally scheduled day of graduation we will have a police escorted vehicle parade through town. Students will remain in their vehicles and congregate in the high school parking lot with a departure time of 7:00 PM. We ask that you begin promoting this through social media. We will create a post on our Facebook page after our parents have had time to read this correspondence. We will provide more specific details as we get closer to May 15th.

On May 21st we will recognize all of our scholarship recipients and academic awards winners for the 2019-2020 school year. A video will be released on the 21st and families will be able to arrive at the high school between 7:00-8:00 to pick up any awards and step out of their cars to take pictures at our media backdrop. Faculty members will also be handing out ice cream bars.

This will be heavily contingent upon what the Greene County restrictions tell us at that time. Prom will be held on the Fair Grove campus. If we are unable to have prom on the 18th it will have to be cancelled for this year.

We will have an evening graduation practice (6:00 PM) followed by a cookout for the seniors. Students will be served by high school faculty members.

In the event of rain graduation will be moved to the following night on Saturday July 25th and worse case scenario Sunday July 26th. Due to the heat all of those dates would start at 8:00 PM.
