A Message from the Principal

Dear Sward Families,

We only have 8 school days left before winter break but our days are perfectly balanced with incredible teaching & learning and fun winter season activities mixed in between. One way to continue that great balance of fun and learning at home is to encourage your child to read after school for at least 20 minutes daily. Everyday a group of Sward Eagles join me during my morning announcements and give book recommendations over the intercom for their fellow Eagles to check out. If your child is reading a great book and would like to share it with the rest of the school, they can let me know all about it and join me over the intercom to announce their "two thumbs up" recommendation. The more the merrier so please encourage your child to let me know if they would like to announce a great book during the Eagle Tips with Mrs. Amra segment of our morning show!

SWARD is Recognized by the State of Illinois as EXEMPLARY

A big congratulations is very well deserved to our amazing Sward teachers, students, and families. Last Monday, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released data used to evaluate all K-12 public schools in Illinois. This year Sward received the highest designation status of “Exemplary”', awarded to Illinois Schools performing in the top 10% of all schools within the state. We are very proud of our achievement at Sward and hope to continue to lead the state in performance!

Winter Concert

All kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Chorus families are invited to join us to watch their children sing in our Winter Concert on Thursday, 12/14, from 1:30 - 2:30. We do ask that you stay for the whole concert to help minimize disruptions and distractions for our performers.

Early Arrivals

Student supervision for arrival time begins at 8:10 A.M. Safety is always our #1 priority at Sward, because there is not supervision for students who arrive earlier than 8:10 A.M. I ask that you please refrain from having students get to school prior to 8:10 A.M. unless they have a morning club to attend or are ordering a school breakfast.

Coat Weather

Our students love their recess time where they are able to run around and enjoy being outside with their peers. Please make sure your child has a coat and is dressed appropriately for the weather to ensure their warmth during recess.

Sward Family Night w/The Chicago Wolves

Community Event

Safety is always our Priority at District 123.
