As many of you know, our LONGHORNS are on FIRE for reading thanks to a new AR Adoption Center where students can "adopt" a reading pet once they reach their AR goal each nine weeks. However, we have brainstormed and researched incentive programs for younger students and those students who reach their goals early in the goal period. This is where the idea of a BOOK VENDING MACHINE for JES came about.

As a SCHOOL, we set a fundraiser goal to include a purchase of a book vending machine. We are happy and grateful to report that our goal was SMASHED and we will be ordering our BOOK VENDING MACHINE in the next week! Extra funds will be used to purchase books to put in the machine!

We know that we owe a huge THANK YOU to our Longhorn Community for all the sharing and donations that have helped us bring more reading opportunities to our school!

Parents, you do not have to wait for Progress Reports and Report Card time to know how your student is doing on classwork. If your student is in 1st to 12th grade you are able to access their grades through Wengage. This is the SAME system that our enrollment is done through, using the same login and password. We encourage families to choose a day each week to login and check your student's grades and assignments. Please contact the office if you are unable to access your Wengage account.

Progress is coming along on the New Early Childhood Center and we could not be more excited! In the last nine weeks the following was completed or well under way:

• New Drop Off Loop on the East Side (Thank you for being flexible during this time!)
• Steel Exterior Walls and MAJORITY of the Steel Interior Walls up for the building
• Exterior Finishes on the Safe Room completed
• FEMA grade windows installed in Safe Room
• Cafetorium interior walls completed
• Cafetorium stage poured
• Classroom & Building Furniture ordering underway
• Playground Design & Equipment finalized
