The MJT Weekly
January 19th, 2024
What's happening this week?
Now that the winter weather has arrived, please check with your child's teacher to see when they will will need to bring their snow gear to school. Sending hats, mittens, and boots each day is always important! Please make sure to label all of your child's belongings with their name.
We had a special visitor today! "The Puppet People" came to present The Three Little Pigs. All students in PreK- grade 2 were able to see the show. They put a fun twist on the fairy tale, and it was an exciting and engaging way to end our week here at school. Be sure to ask your children what their favorite parts were!
Lee Road Pick up:
With the arrival of colder weather, staff will be out at Lee Road for pick up from 3:10-3:25. If you will be arriving later than 3:25, please pick you child up from the main office.
iReady:
Our second diagnostic testing window is under way, and your children in grades K-2 will be (or have already) completing their ELA and math iReady diagnostic test. As previously mentioned, this tests measure a range of skills in both subject areas, and tracks their growth throughout the year. Teachers are able to use the data collected from these assessments to target instruction for all students. It is important that students take their time on the test, and all students have signed our "Pledge to do our best" banners.
Beverages:
If your child brings a water bottle to school, it should contain only water, or possibly a zero sugar flavoring. Soda, energy drinks, iced tea, sugary flavorings, juice, or lemonade, are not permitted. These are often kept on their desks to sip on throughout the day, and spills can lead to sticky messes. Most importantly, we are working to encourage healthy habits here at school! Thank you for your cooperation.
PTO Event: PreK and Kindergarten Mini Prom
This event will be for prek and kindergarten students only. There will be an event for grades 1 and 2 late winter/early spring. We had to limit to two grade levels at a time for space purposes. Thank you for understanding! *Friday February 9th, 6-7:30.
Attendance:
Lastly, regular attendance at school is crucial to your child's educational progress and success. in conjunction with our district's attendance policy, you will receive a letter when you child gets to 6, 12, and 18 absences for the school year. At 18 absences, you will receive a letter which requires you to come to school to discuss the reasons for your child's absences, and to come up with a plan to help ensure they have regular attendance moving forward.
