The Preschool class made gingerbread men and asked the cooks to bake them. The cooks came down and let the students know that when they opened the oven to check on them, all the gingerbread men had ran away. The gingerbread men left clues around the school for the preschool class to try and find them. The kids had a blast and finally found the cookies back in their classroom! It was so fun to see their excitement.

Mrs. Hall and her FCCLA members enjoyed a fun Christmas party on Monday, December 11. They played dodgeball, had an ugly sweater contest, and enjoyed some yummy treats.

The Akron MS Boys’ Basketball team hosted Wray in the LPAA league championship on Tuesday evening. The boys played very well and came away with 41 - 23 victory over the Eagles. Congratulations boys and coaches on a great season!!

Last Saturday, the middle school boys B team won their championship game 32-23.

On Monday, December 11 Kinsey Grauer signed to continue her basketball career at Simpson College in Iowa. Congratulations to Kinsey and her family.

The Akron Rams Pom team traveled to the Colorado State Spirit Competition to compete against the best of the best in the state of Colorado this past weekend. The competition took place December 7-9. The 2A Pom division semi-finals took place on 12/9. The Akron Pom team was one of six teams in the semi-final preliminaries. They performed to an 80’s rock mix showcasing strong pom movements, flips, lifts, turn sequences, jumps and more. The execution of their choreography in conjunction with their impressive showmanship left them scoring just shy of making the finals, placing 4th overall in 2A Pom for the state of Colorado. The team has had major improvement and growth over the last year, placing much higher than their state competition debut in 2022. The team stands to lose 2 seniors, Emma Schippers and Vashti Winter next year, but return all five of the performers from this year’s team, next year. We are excited to watch the growth over the next several months and look forward to the preparation for next year’s state competition. We are incredibly proud of the Pom team’s hard work and determination! They have earned this outstanding honor.

Last weekend the high school basketball teams hosted Akron's Annual Holiday Tournament. Thursday night the boys defeated Idalia and the girls lost to Idalia. Friday our girls defeated Otis to take 3rd in the tournament and the boys fell to Stratton to take 2nd place. This weekend both teams are headed to NJC to play in a three day tournament.

The boys worked hard in Limon and showed much improvement. Merek Charney placed 2nd and Kaleb Grauer placed 5th. The Rams are heading to Wray this weekend to compete in the Bob Smith Invitational.

On Sunday, athletes, coaches and parents spent time honoring the achievements made during fall sports. Football, volleyball, boys' golf, pom and Esports athletes were all recognized for their contributions to their sport.

Adventure Vision will be here on January 23rd and 24th to do vision screenings. For our vision clinic to happen we need at least 30 students to be screened. This is a wonderful opportunity for your student to receive a full screening and free glasses if they are needing new ones, or even just an extra pair.

If you would like your student to be seen, please contact the school so we can get a form sent home with your child. We would like to collect all forms by December 21st.
