Online registration for incoming Kindergarten students begins today! If you have a pre-schooler to register, please log on to your Skyward account and go to "New Student Registration". After competing this first step, please visit the French Creek website and click on the 2019-2020 Registration Calendar. This will be listed under "Quick Links". You will then be able to select a registration appointment that best meets your needs.

The district has revised our most recent Non-School Sponsored Travel policy. Moving forward, students can once again be approved for up to 5 days of travel. Click here for the revised form. The form is also always posted on our French Creek website under "Quick Links".

Please note that each OJR school is required to send out formal attendance letters to parents. The letters are automatically generated through Skyward, our student management system. These letters are consistent across our district and are mandated throughout all PA schools. Please understand that while we recognize students will need to be absent due to illness, or other excused circumstance, the letters are required when a student receives 3 unexcused absences or if a student has accumulated 10 or more days out of school. Please refer to the Elementary Parent Handbook for more information.

Please review and reinforce the expectations below with your students. We are definitely seeing an increase in non-desired behaviors since returning from the winter break. Many thanks in advance!

Please join us in celebrating National School Counseling Week and recognizing our own counselor, Mrs. Gabrielle Baylor February 4th-8th.

Our next PTA meeting will be on Wednesday, February 6th at 9:30 AM in the commons.

Fifth and Sixth grade students are invited to join the 2019 Yearbook Club! Members will design the French Creek Club and Events pages, choose photos to be included in the yearbook, and plan the yearbook’s layout and content. If your child is interested, please complete the form and return it to school by Monday, February 11th. Click here for the permission form.

There will be no school for students on Friday, February 15th and Monday, February 18th.

We will be honoring Dr. Seuss’ birthday during the week of February 25th -March 1st. In addition to the exciting activities that are planned, students are invited to participate in a Book Swap on Thursday and Friday, February 28th and March 1st. Please see the attachment below for additional information.

In order to make this event a success, we need the help of parent volunteers to set up, clean up, and staff the tables at the Book Swap. Jobs include keeping the books organized and on appropriate tables as well as helping the students select books. All volunteers must have valid clearances on file with the office.

The Middle School Administration will be hosting a 6th Grade Parent Information Night on Thursday, February 21st at 6:30 PM in the Middle School Auditorium. We hope our 6th grade parents will be able to attend the important information session.

Sixth Grade Parents... Now is your opportunity to recognize your Sixth Grader’s accomplishments — place your child's picture in the school yearbook, along with a note of congratulations! All Shout-Outs and payments must be returned to Ms. Scalea no later than Wednesday, February 20th.

Yearbooks are on sale now…Please note that all Sixth Graders receive a yearbook courtesy of the FCVPTA and DO NOT need to place an order. The deadline for ordering a yearbook is Friday, April 12th.

Please help the French Creek K-Kids gather supplies for the Animal House in Pottstown. This is an organization that assists the elderly and families in need to care for their pets. Their biggest needs are: cans and bags of dog and cat food; small animal food, cat litter, fish food, and flea and tick prevention products. Items should be placed in the box in the main lobby. Please contact Ms. Scalea at dscalea@ojrsd.com with questions. We will be collecting during the month of February.

We are still in need of several volunteers to assist with the French Creek Annual 24 Math Competition! If you are wondering what 24 is, or what the job of the volunteer will be, please see the attached information sheet.

The competition will be held on Friday, March 29th.

Tournament times will be:

• 8:45-10:15-6th grade

• 10:25-11:55-4th grade

• 12:45-2:15-5th grade

The OJR Education Foundation will be hosting their spring consignment sale on Saturday, March 30th from 8:00 am through 12:30 pm at OJR Middle School. Shop, consign, or donate! Visit www.ojref.org for more information or email ojrefsale@gmail.com.

This yearly recognition program, sponsored by State Farm®, honors outstanding educators in the Delaware Valley. Educators are recognized in THREE categories:

1. An Exceptional Teacher Award is presented to educators, including one Grand Prize Winner (Cash Prize).
2. A Caring Classroom Award (Cash Prize) is presented to one educator for integrating community service in his or her classroom.
3. A Good Neighbor Award (Cash Prize) is presented to one educator for promoting driver safety.

The Grand Prize Winner and the two special award winners receive a monetary prize. All winners are honored at a ceremony at the Museum and their stories are featured in a Museum exhibit for an entire year.

Nomination Deadline is Sunday March 3rd.

The YMCA is still looking for Girls on the Run and Stride Coaches in order to offer an after school team at French Creek. Girls on the Run and STRIDE begins the week of March 11th and ends with a 5K on Saturday, June 1st.
