Thoughts on the Week
Have a nice long weekend!
Hi hope everyone enjoys the long weekend as we gear up for the home stretch!
As a reminder for next week, we have MCA testing on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, 4th and 5th grade will be taking their math tests and on Thursday, 4th grade will finish their math test and 6th grade wil take their reading test.
Finally, Mr. HInker will be out of the office attending a conference on Wednesday and Thursday next week. Please refer immediate behavior concerns to Ms. Thompson.
Have a great weekend!
Need to Know
MCA Schedule Next Week
4th Grade Math: 4/23, 4/24
5th Grade Math: 4/23
6th Grade Reading: 4/24
Notes:
- Students will need to complete the Google Form that Mel will share prior to each day of testing to "order" breakfast during the MCAs. This will help students plan ahead and help us avoid over or under-preparing food for breakfasts. If you have questions about breakfast orders, please reach out to Mel.
- All students should start their testing days in their homeroom (or 2nd hour for 6th grade) for the sake of attendance and lunch counts. Small group test administrators should pick up their group's testing tickets from the office FIRST! After that, you will go and collect your students from their classrooms.
- If you are assigned to administer small group MCA tests and are unaware of your schedule, please reach out to Mr. Hinker or to your case manager.
Author Visit next Friday!
We are forutnate to welcome author James Kennedy to speak to our students next Friday, April 25. Kennedy will speak about his book, how he became an author, and engage students in his love of writing. All grades will be seated by 9:00am for a 45-minute presentation by Mr. Kennedy.
The office will call classrooms down to be seated.
Odds and Ends
PBIS for ALL!
Integrity in Action
I would like us to focus on two areas related to INTEGRITY for the rest of April and into May. The first is student behavior with substitutes and the second is student behavior in the hallway. I believe we are at a point in the year where all of our students know what is expected of them in their classes and what is expected of them in the hallway. To this end, I encourage all staff to bypass warnings given to students for negative behaviors in either of these areas.
If a student's misbehavior for a guest teacher is disruptive to the learning in the room while you are gone, please refer him or her to Greg. That student will be assigned extended time in the office and parents will be notified. I would like this to be a specific area of focus for our 6th grade but 4th and 5th grade can make referrals as well.
If you notice a student running or yelling in the hallway, please send them to the office where they will be assigned lunch detention and parents will be notified.
Thank you for your support with keeping the behavior bar high for our students.
