"Stay in the Loop" 12th Edition
Letter From the Principal
Last Friday, we celebrated the end of Quarter 2 with an All-School Assembly where we were honored to begin with a guest speaker who truly embodies our theme of "Go Make a Difference." Mr. Kyle Barger, SPX alum and uncle of Paige Evans, co-founded the Make-a-Day organization which provides outreach to the local homeless population. Their mission is "to empower the impoverished through inclusive community events, acts of kindness, outreach, advocacy, and educational awareness." Kyle shared numerous ways that even young children can make a difference in our community, so I encourage you to take time to discuss this with your child. (It could be as simple as allowing them to donate toys, clothes, or books to those in need.)
We are incredibly proud of this former Panther and we left feeling empowered to make a difference. If you'd like to learn more about Kyle's organization and how you can support his pop-up outreach events, please go to https://www.makeaday.fun/programs.

Information Nights and Open House*
Please help us spread the word by sharing our posts on social media and emailing your friends! Maintaining our enrollment numbers helps us keep tuition affordable! We will hold a drawing for the people in attendance. If they listed you for referring them, you will win $100 off tuition.
2nd Quarter All-School Assembly
During our All-School Assembly, students were recognized for making a difference and earning God's Gifts Stickers, for earning Positive Panther Awards by going above and beyond with their work habits, or for earning Honor Roll status (6th-8th). Additionally, we recognized our SPX winter athletes.
After our speaker and awards, we took some time for FUN! Student representatives from each class participated in winter themed games planned by Mrs. Hennessey. We especially enjoyed seeing the kindergarten and 6th grade teachers become snowmen during the Snowman Relay!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, February 9th from 3:10-7:30 p.m. Parents or teachers may request a conference, but since midyear conferences are only held one night, they are reserved to discuss concerns. Please check the comment section of your child's report card to see if the teacher is requesting that you schedule a conference. You should receive an email from your child's teacher with the link by tonight.
SPX Teachers Make Learning Irresistible!
Our Jr. High students conducted an experiment to observe whether carbohydrates (potato) and proteins (liver) release energy similarly or differently.
Our kindergarten students had "snow" much fun learning about snowflakes with their 6th grade buddies!
SPX Art Show
Our Art Show was a great success with over 250 people in attendance! We'd like to Mr. Sharpe for all of his hard work and all of our talented artists for creating such amazing pieces! Mr. Sharpe even has some great ideas about how to make next year's event more interactive.
SPX is Enthroned to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
"Do not let the past disturb you, just leave everything in the Sacred Heart and begin again with joy." – St. Teresa of Calcutta
On Tuesday, our school enthroned the Sacred Heart of Jesus in our school which will bring us countless blessings. By the Enthronement, we proclaim Jesus as King who rules over us through love. We are asking Jesus for His divine Wisdom and Guidance in all that we try to accomplish. Each classroom received an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to be displayed to remind us of His great love for us!

One of Our SPX Parents is an Author!
Our Kindergarten Lions were treated to an exciting author visit by an SPX parent! Mrs. Christina Dixon, the mother of Jabari Dixon, has written a children’s book titled I Am the Moon. She visited Mrs. Marvin’s classroom, read her book aloud, and led a hands-on craft with the kids that was related to her book. While the book is a fiction book, it has wonderful nonfiction ties to space science. The students enjoyed the story which was evident in the level of engagement while she read to them. They had the opportunity to find out what it takes to be an author, they learned all about space, and they had a blast making their own galaxies in a jar.
You can check her out on Facebook at "Christina the Author Dixon." We will be sure to share her Kickstarter link when it goes live to give our families an opportunity to order her book!
Multicultural Night--We Need YOUR FAMILY!*
It's not too late!
St. Pius X School is excited to present Multicultural Night on Thursday, March 2nd from 6:00-7:30 pm! Here at SPX, we have families from all across the globe. This will be an opportunity for our families to share the rich traditions from their family’s culture.
We are looking for volunteers to showcase aspects of their culture. Each country will have a table to present various traditions, including (but not limited to) a tri-fold board, food, music, art, stories, dancing, textiles, etc. Families may work together and we'll even connect you with others, if you'd like!
Join us in appreciating our similarities and celebrating our differences! In order for this event to be a success, we need MANY families to participate.
