When we return from fall break we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week and our Commitment to make Drug Free choices. Each day we will share facts and tips about making choices that keep us safe and healthy and keep substances out of our bodies. Students are invited to participate in the dress up days listed below.

Monday - "Don't Let Drugs Sneak Up On You!" Wear your favorite sneakers

Tuesday - "My Team Is Drug Free!" Wear your favorite team attire

Wednesday - "Blackout Drugs!" Wear all black

Thursday - "I"m Too Bright For Drugs!" Wear all neon

Friday - "Say BOO To Drugs!" Wear orange and black in celebration of Halloween

As is our custom and commitment to safety, just a reminder about the MUST DO'S for daily drop off and dismissal. THANK YOU for helping us follow these daily procedures and keep our Lions safe!

ARRIVAL

• When dropping off students, use the curb club procedure in FRONT of the building. Please do not let kids out right in front of the flag pole, pull all the way up to our sign to let off.
• Students arriving through Door #6 in back should be walkers and bike riders. (Walkers should not walk up to Door #1)

DISMISSAL

• All students released as walkers and crossing with a crossing guard should be walking home or riding their bike. Crossing Guard students are not to be picked up by car.
• All Curb Club cars should have a working car tag. If your tag is not working or you do not have one, please call Mrs. Coppes at the office to secure one.
• Please make sure you STAY in line until you reach the front of the line. You may pull up and pass the very first car that may be waiting to load but please DO NOT pull around vehicles from within the line to be sure those crossing to the parking lot are safe.

Safety is our number one priority for all of our Lions!

Once again we will be collecting canned food items for the Holiday season. All food collected will go to Combined Community Services. Historically, we have played a dodgeball game to culminate our canned food collection. This year we will be handling the collection a bit differently. All feeder elementary schools to LV will be making a combined collection goal. If we meet this goal then all four principals of these feeder schools will join forces to participate in a wild and crazy challenge.....campout on the roof of our buildings or perhaps kissing a pig or maybe dying our hair....the decision is not finalized yet but the fun should be contagious and we look forward to helping our community AND taking on the challenge of the kids!

Help us out by grabbing some extra non perishable items (especially canned fruit and veggies or mac and cheese) and sending them in the week of November 8th through the 12th. Thank you for helping us help our community!

Please be sure that all vacation leaves and absences are reported to our office. Often times emails go to teachers instead of the office. Part of our protocol is that the office will notify teachers. Please, please call in if your child is going to be absent. Our office phone takes messages 24/7 so you can even call through the night if you have a sick student that you know will be out. Thank you for helping us keep our communication between families to school and office to staff strong as we care for our lions!
