Kelly Meyer, one of our two Assistant Principals, officially changed her name in the AISD systems to her married name, Kelly Zilem.

AISD has standardized the attendance time for all elementary schools. Our official attendance time has moved from 10:00 to 10:30 am. All students present at the official attendance time are marked present for the day. Please consider this when making appointments during the school day to support your child's attendance rates and the campus funding that comes along with attendance.

Just a reminder, doors open at 7:15 and the instructional day starts at 7:40.

Many of our families and staff members have taken advantage of the extra parking in the old Xplor / New CDC East parking lot. Just a reminder to all, that location will be up and running as the new Circle C Child Development Center East Campus and is no longer a parking option for our Kiker Families. Thank you so much for your help!

Beginning this school year, the cafeteria will be resuming the pricing system for breakfast and lunch. More information and menus can be found on https://www.schoolcafe.com/.

Applicaitons for free and reduced lunch are available as well.

This year we are encouraging 4th and 5th grade students to sign up for safety patrol for a two week block of time during the school year. Thank you for being a campus leader!

Students will drop backpack off in the front foyer/vestibule, sign in, grab a vest, and head out front. We need help waving cars to the front of the line, opening doors, and welcoming each child with a warm greeting or sending students off at the end of the day.

2022-23 Bus information

Families whose students are eligible for transportation will receive their bus information by email or letter on Aug 2nd. The district’s “Bus Stop Finder'' will be live on Aug 2nd. Families whose students have special needs will receive their information in person from their bus teams starting the second week in August.

Promote “WheresTheBus” App for Families

AISD’s transportation team offers families the “WheresTheBus” app, which provides timely information about the location of their student’s assigned bus only, including when it will arrive at their stop.

We will learn how to check in, pick up assignments, use the copying, laminating, die cut, duplicating, and binding machines. Questions will be answered and we will complete projects the teachers need before school starts! Come to the Kiker Front office at the scheduled time to attend training.

When you come for Meet-the-Teacher, don't forget to stop by the PTA Spirit Sales table in the front of the school to purchase your 2022-23 spirit shirt and other Kiker swag. If you have already pre-ordered a shirt, they will be available for pick up then too. Go Comets!

Our Clean Up Day is THIS Saturday! This is a come and go event. Stay for as little or long as you can. REMINDERS: We will have water but it will be HOT so bring sunscreen and hats. Also, bring gloves and tools to help with plant and garden clean up. Suggested tools are: clippers, rakes, small shovels, edgers, power cords and wheelbarrows. There will also be a rock painting station in the shade for kids. Let’s work together to get our school in top shape for the new year!

Make sure your child is reading every day this summer! The public library is a great place to take your child in the summertime. There is so much to see and do to get your child re-inspired. If you need book recommendations and a challenge, have your child take the 5 Book Dive this summer. If they read 5 books from the reading list, they'll receive a $5 gift card to Book People. All students will take home their Austin ISD 1:1 devices and chargers they have been using during the school year. Students will return with their device and charger at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

For students who are graduating or will not be returning to AISD next year, devices and hotspots need to be returned to their campus. Students should also return any unused or no longer needed hotspots at the end of the school year.

Additionally, below are transition options for students moving from 2nd (iPads) to 3rd grade (Chromebooks) (pending available inventory).

• Option 1:

• 2nd grade students take home their iPad over the summer.

• Chromebooks will be delivered to the campus during the summer for August distribution to students.

• Students check the iPad into the campus at the start of the 2022-2023 school year and are issued a Chromebook.
