The countdown to Winter Break is on and the clock is ticking on holiday shopping days too! Join us this Thursday, December 6th from 3:15-6:30 PM in the McKinley gym for this year's Secret Holiday Workshop. Shop for unique gifts all under $10 while enjoying live music from the McKinley Orchestra and at the same time supporting a family in need this Holiday Season. It's a McKinley holiday tradition you don't want to miss!

Get ready for the holidays with gifts for the whole family. All items sold by our over 30 creative vendors will be $10 or less. Young shoppers can shop with a parent or shop secretly with a McKinley Messenger who will help them manage their money. You can wrap your gifts and bring everything home ready for the holidays. Bring your neighbors, family and friends...everyone is welcome. Enjoy holiday music provided by McKinley’s Orchestra while sipping hot cocoa or try your luck at our raffle table. You can also stock up on some holiday treats at our bake sale. All monies raised from our bake sale, raffle tickets and Orchestra tip jar go to help a family in need this holiday season. So come support a great cause and get some things crossed off your shopping list! There’s something for everyone! Enter through the school doors closest to the gym from both 89th and 90th St.

Parents, please stop by Ruby Tap on Thursday, December 13th to participate in our last Dine Out fundraiser for this calendar year. Mention McKinley on that day and any of your purchases will earn 10% back for our school! This includes anything from the bar, bottles to go, gift cards, and wine club gifts! Ruby Tap is open 3 pm-10 pm on 12/13 so please stop by and have a glass of wine (they also have beer!) with other parents and do some holiday shopping to benefit McKinley!

It’s time for the Winter Sing Bake Sale. Please consider donating cookies, brownies, fudge and other baked goods and sweet treats to help raise money for the McKinley PTO. Items can be homemade or purchased and should be individually wrapped and ready for sale. Please label items and include any relevant allergy information such as “contains nuts” or gluten free”, etc. We also need volunteers to cover several short shifts on Thursday, 12/13, and Friday, 12/14, during the concerts. With Winter Sing concerts and holiday parties, many families will be visiting McKinley in December. Please don't forget to stop by before or after the Winter concerts or parties to see if anything looks familiar! On January 2, the remaining items will be taken down and eventually donated. If your kiddo is missing something, please come take a look!

Calling all Fifth Graders and a Few Awesome Parents to Join the 2018-2019 McKinley Battle of the Books Team!

What is Battle of the Books? Battle of the Books is a fun way to add games and teammates to reading. Kids get put into teams and help choose the books they feel comfortable reading from a group of amazing pre-selected books provided by the school, the district and the PTO.

We are looking for volunteers to come and share information about different careers with our 5th graders. The goal is to share a variety of careers with our students. This year's annual career day will be held in February. The commitment would be approximately thirty minutes to present your career to a small group of students. We will choose the speakers once we survey the students about their various interests. If you or someone you know is interested please email Megan Hambrook (hambrookmeg@gmail.com) a short paragraph about your job.

If you'd like to show your appreciation to the McKinley teachers and staff by bringing in a treat for the teacher/staff lounge, please sign up for a day by clicking HERE.

Please consider signing up to volunteer in your student’s art class by clicking HERE. K5 classes meet twice a week for 45 minutes. 1st to 5th grade classes meet once a week for an hour. It’s a fun opportunity to help kids express their creativity. If you can help mount or hang art at other times, please contact Heidi Engbring at hengbring@wi.rr.com.

You already are! If you are a parent, guardian or teacher at McKinley Elementary School, you are a member of the PTO.

Interested in becoming more involved? The PTO is always looking for help. Volunteer opportunities in areas of marketing, communication, social media coordination, event coordination, website design, merchandising and more! There are volunteer opportunities that fit everyone's schedule - during school hours, after school hours, work from home hours and one time event hours.
