Principal's Message

Sunny Heights Families,

Our 3rd & 4th grade students have completed the first week of ILEARN! Students worked very hard on the math portion of the test. Next week students will complete the English/Language Arts portion of the assessment. Our focus continues to be 100% ATTENDANCE & 100% FOCUS every day at Sunny Heights Elementary (especially during testing)!

A couple other important reminders for this week:

Warren Township Community Forum will be held at Creston Middle School on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:00 pm. District staff will be on hand to discuss district initiatives.
During AM Arrival & PM Dismissal car rider traffic is ONE-WAY. Car riders should enter off 25th street, proceed through the parking lot, around the front curb, then exit onto Stonybrook Drive. NO ONE should exit south toward 25th street. This procedure is for everyone's SAFETY, especially our children!

ELEMENTARY & INTERMEDIATE ART SHOW

Come and enjoy the Elementary & Intermediate Art Show the week of Monday, April 29th to Friday, May 3rd. The show will be held at Porter Service Center which is located at 9150 E. Rawles Avenue from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This event is free to all to come and view the exciting artwork our students are producing. Sandra Rodriguez-Estrada's weaving artwork was chosen for our Sunny Heights art poster and postcards. Fantastic job!

Come get a closer look at our amazing SH art masterpieces at the Art Show next week! The show is free and runs Monday - Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM at the Porter Service Center, located at 9150 E. Rawles Avenue. We have 3 rolling art boards, 1 backdrop and a table full of FANTASTIC art work. I will be there Monday and Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Mrs. O’Neill

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE

Parents: All medications need to be picked up from the clinic by a parent or guardian no later than the last day of school, Monday, June 3rd. Any medication not picked up will be destroyed. Any questions, please call Ms Roberta, school nurse, at 317-532-2903.

The app includes easy access to the weekly breakfast and lunch menu, staff contacts, district documents, bullying and safety reporting form, and much much more. LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - MONDAY, JUNE 3RD

Monday, June 3rd is Warren Township's last day of the regular school year (barring no further

weather closings). This date has been extended due to the following weather closings: November 15th and January 30th. All students will be dismissed early on this day.

Grades 5 - 12 will be dismissed at 1:30 pm

Grades K-4 will be dismissed at 2:30 pm

Lunch balances

If a student has accrued a substantial balance, the student will be provided a choice of two alternate meals at a reduced rate of $0.50. Parents may check student account balances by using the link provided to the Lunch Parent Portal.

A NOTE FROM NURSE ROBERTA

Flu season is here. Your child's health is very important. Sometimes it's hard to tell if your child has the flu. Common symptoms include coughing, fever and chills. A fever can increase in just a few hours to very high levels. If your child is sick it is very important to keep them hydrated. Some examples include: water, Popsicles, juice, Pedialyte and Gatorade. Children, elderly and anyone who has chronic conditions (asthma, diabetes, heart disease) are more at risk from the flu. Flu can go into pneumonia which can be very dangerous. A child does not have to look sick to be sick. I am here as a resource for you. If you have questions or concerns, please give me a call at 317-532-2903.

CLASSROOM VISITS

In an effort to keep all children safe, anyone wanting to visit the classroom, have lunch with a child, and/or go on field trips must come to the school office to complete a background check. Please bring ID at that time. Visits are limited to 15 min. throughout the day. During those 15 min., parents are not able to talk with teachers. We do not want to interrupt class time. If you would like to meet with the teacher, schedule a meeting with the teacher prior to your visiting the school.

PTA

It is never to late to join our PTA. Joining the PTA allows you and your family to meet some great people. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, to build a rapport and discuss issues that are on your mind. $7.00 is all it takes to become a member. Please ask your child's teacher for more information.
