Keep Us From Getting Lost!
Please make sure to mark all jackets, coats, hats, gloves, lunch pails, backpacks and other student items with their NAME in case they are left around the building or out at recess. This helps us get them back to the right owner.
The school has a Lost and Found that parents are welcome to look through if something is missing.
Recess
Recess will be held outdoors, except when extended exposure to the elements is inadvisable or when the Principal determines it to be otherwise unsafe. Students will not have outdoor recess when either the air temperature or wind chill factor is 10 degrees fahrenheit or lower.

Hy-Vee Cash 4 Students - Save Your Receipts
Back this year is Hy-Vee Cash 4 Students. Simply save your register receipts when you check out at any Hy-Vee, beginning September 1 continuing through December 31, then send them to school with your child. The collection dropbox is located in the office. You can also turn in your receipts at Hy-Vee after checking out. Look for the collection boxes by the customer service counter.
Swanson receives a percentage of each purchase total - even for gas! Receipts can be from anyone…parents, grandparents, friends or Swanson staff. Swanson receives $1 for every $200 of receipts collected. Every little bit helps!

A huge thank you to all families who donated to the fall clothing drive!
The Closet continues to benefit from the kindness of Westside students, teachers, and staff. Our recent coat and clothing drive was a big success and we would like to thank all of the families who participated. Your donations will help keep your fellow students warm this winter. Another big thanks goes out to those who donated during professional development day.
We will hold another drive in the spring for warm weather clothing but until then, if you are looking for a way to help throughout the year, please remember that toiletries and new-in-package underwear (youth and adult sizes) are an ongoing need and may be donated through your school’s social worker at any time.
As always, Closet volunteers are available to pull clothing for any family in need and deliver it to your school or families may opt to visit The Closet with their social worker.
Sincerely,
Marci Crone and Veronica Martinez
Clothing Closet Chairs
