Volunteers: One thing that we have always loved is the community support that EY receives. Unfortunately we are not allowing volunteers during hybrid learning. We have missed see you all and can't wait until we can enjoy your help in the future.
Attendance: Please have your students to school on time. We will open doors at 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to allow transition to classrooms. If your student will be absent for any reason, please notify the office and your students teacher.
Sickness/Health Screening:
If your child has any of the following symptoms please keep your child home from school and notify the school office at 503-554-4750 or langk@newberg.k12.or.us.
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Loss of taste or smell
We will be visually screening all students and adults as they enter the building. Students must wear a mask while on school grounds.
TEACHER TRANSITION DAYS
In order for teachers to prepare the classrooms for students to be back in the building, there are two transition days where students will not have class.
Kindergarten and 1st grade - March 4th and 5th; No SPED or ELD; No Reading Groups (Mrs. Cammack's reading groups are not canceled.)
2nd - 5th grade - March 18th and 19th
Student Book Bags
Thanks to the Ewing Young Support Team (EYST), students will continue to use their customized book bags. New students can pick up their book bags on the first day of school, or schedule a time with the office to pick theirs up.
Headphones
- K-2 students please bring over-the-ear headphones
- 3rd - 5th grade students can use either over-the-ear or earbuds.
If you can not provide headphones the school will have a set for your child.

1st Grade Teacher's Corner
First Graders have been enjoying some fun virtual classroom STEAM activities on Fridays.
We used conversation hearts for a variety of engineering challenges right before Valentines Day. Each student also created a special piece of heart chalk art to share with his or her family. It was so nice to see everyone's smiles, hear their giggles, and watch the fun unfold. The recent snow and ice inspired us to "Build a Snowman" with toothpicks and marshmallows. Students drew a plan, built their design, and then problem solved to get their snowman to stand up tall. There were a lot of creative ideas, and everyone showed true perseverance in getting their design to succeed. It felt good to get in some hands on learning and fun together.
