Principal's Update
This week is also Teacher Appreciation Week. Unlike other parts of the country, Brevard students have been able to attend school all year. The hybrid instructional model has not been perfect, but it has provided a way for our students to continue their education in the midst of historic challenges. Please take a moment to reach out to your child's teachers with a thank you or an encouraging word. Never in my career have I witnessed teachers work harder or adapt to more challenges that I have this year. Your kindness will truly brighten their day.

Mel Hi Name Change Meeting
French Honor Society
The French Honor Society had its induction ceremony via Zoom Tuesday, April 27th. We would like to congratulate Danielle Foege, Lucas Kaczynski, Arianna Nicolas, Caitlin Poirier, and Hanna Sheinman. These students have done outstanding work for the past three to five years in French and will continue on with French after high school. Félicitations!
MHS Blood Drive Results
Thank you to all of you that came to donate blood (the highest number of faculty I have ever seen!), and to those of you that allowed students to come out of your classes to donate and/or work at the Blood Drive. We donated approximately 65 pints of blood!
Our student helpers participated in everything from taking temps, registering donors, collecting consents, directing and instructing to eat and drink before and after, to fetching fellow students in a wheelchair and monitoring them when they felt ill afterwards. It gave many a chance to serve each other, and experience Health Care up close and personal.
Here is an informational video about the blood drive. https://youtu.be/i1fwpKCy2DY

Information for ELearners
ELearner Return to Campus
Ms. Canose--Last names A-D
Ms. Weinstein--Last names E-K
Ms. Farrow--Last names L-Q and ESOL students
Mr. Boos--Last names R-Z
Ms. Persing--Early Admissions and Collegiate High School students
Ms. Mason--International Baccalaureate students
Teacher Expectations for ELearners
- Students should be properly dressed for virtual instruction just as if they were going to attend class on campus. In short, students should not be in their pajamas or beach wear when attending class.
- Students should plan to log into their class at the time it meets on campus.
- Students should plan to show their face for the entire period to the teacher. This not only allows the teacher to verify the presence of your child for attendance purposes, it also allows the teacher to fully involve your child in the class. Teachers may mark students absent from class if they refuse to show their face on camera. Remember, ELearning only exists because of the pandemic. In a normal year every child would be showing their face live and in person in the classroom.
- Students should plan to participate in class for the entire period. They should not walk away from the camera, attend to household chores, or engage in other activities that would not be allowed in a normal school setting.
Thank you in advance for helping us communicate these expectations to your student.
