Crosswalk Safety
When picking up or dropping off students in the car line, please be mindful that you are not stopping in the crosswalk at the front of the school or blocking the sidewalks that cross the driveway to the school parking lot. When your car is stopped either in the crosswalk or on the sidewalk entering the parking lot, students are forced to walk into the street which is dangerous. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.

Lockdown Drill - October 18
Archer Glen will be participating in our first lockdown drill of the school year on October 18. Lockdown drills are an essential part of our emergency preparedness, and help students and staff to practice specific actions that would occur in an emergency situation. Practice drills such as these are also an opportunity for our administrators and staff to collaborate with the Sherwood Police Department to continue improving our safety plans. You may notice increased police presence if you are on/near our campus during a lockdown drill, as our SROs do participate in checking our building security during the drill.
During drills, staff and students are secured within their individual classrooms/offices, and there is no movement in the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed.
For more information on District emergency response protocols and communication, please visit the SSD website here.
Great Oregon ShakeOut Earthquake Drills - October 19
The annual Great Oregon ShakeOut is part of an international safety preparedness program, where millions of people worldwide participate in earthquake drills on the same day. This year’s earthquake drills will be held on October 19, and for all of Oregon will be held at 10:19am. All schools and district facilities will participate in this annual drill, and this is the first of two earthquake drills that will be practiced by our locations this year.
For more information on the Great Oregon Shakeout, please visit https://www.shakeout.org/oregon/.
STEM Request
STEM is in need of paper towel tubes for an upcoming 1st and 2nd grade project. If you have any at home, please have your students drop them off in front of the STEM room or during their STEM day.
Thank you!

Destiny Library System Notifications
As part of our ongoing effort to increase communication between schools and families surrounding literacy, families will now begin to receive a weekly message sharing a list of what your student checked out. This message will come out every Thursday at 4pm.
At this time we are only able to send the email to the student and the first parent/guardian listed in Synergy. We’re working with our partners to include the first four parents/guardians in Synergy. Thank you for your ongoing partnership!
Volunteer Background Checks
Every volunteer in Sherwood School District must have a criminal background check completed each school year (July 1-June 30). Background checks take 7-10 business days to process. Background checks are required for each school year, so background checks completed prior to July 1, 2023 are not valid for the 23-24 school year.
Once your background checks clear, names are added to the approved volunteer list for all SSD schools. Please note: no approval notice goes out to cleared volunteers, so if you have questions about your submission or want to confirm your background check has been processed and approved, please contact the office of the school you would like to volunteer
To complete the volunteer approval process for 2023-24, please complete the form below:
