Principals Corner: Welcoming in 2023!
Hello Hawks families,
Winter break is winding down and a new year is about to kick off. I hope that you had a fun and festive two week break and are ready to jump into 2023!
January at CPHS means wrapping up our first academic semester, our new tradition of a two week J Term, and the start of our second academic semester.
We plan to mail home report cards to families of student's first semester grades the week of January 23rd. Our teachers are committed to a "no surprises" policy when it comes to students grades, so please, if you feel like you are unsure of how your student is doing in their classes, reach out to the teachers. For students who are failing courses, our teachers have been sending communications to families. For all students, updated grades can be found on Skyward, and if you are unsure how to check your students grades you may reach out to us, or you can ask your student to pull them up in front of you on their device. All students know very well how to check their grades online.
Winter sports are also in full swing, and we welcome all to join us for our home contests this month. You can follow our athletics page on Instagram @cphshawks_athletics for details and information on all CPHS sports.
Please note that during J Term (January 17-January 27) school does not begin until 9:00am. Students who take the bus will continue to ride at their regular time, and will be able to use our cafeteria for breakfast and hanging out until class starts. Same with drop-offs and any other students who wish to arrive to school closer to the regular start time of 8:00am.
Please also be aware that our office staff may be asking to see a drivers license or some form of identification when you come to the school. This is our practice and while we appreciate the fact that we know so many of our families by face and name, there is still a requirement of our office staff to see ID before releasing a student to a parent for pick-up during the school day.
In this January edition of the Hawks Happening newsletter, we have information about an upcoming Spanish speaking families community event, details about our launch of CP Adult Night School, Five Star Hawks Recipients, Adv. Media Fall Highlights, and much more.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at 509-522-3312.
