Ramadan, April 2-May 2
Ramadan, Islam's holiest month, began at sundown on Saturday, April 2, and will end on Monday, May 2.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is marked by fasting, reflection, charity and prayer.
It is believed that the first verses of Islam's holy scripture, the Quran, were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad during this time.
Note From the Nurse
It’s Spring in Texas so that means that allergy season is upon us. Surviving Spring allergies can be tricky as symptoms of allergies often mimic those of COVID-19. If your student has allergies, please make sure that you are treating them prior to coming to school and that they are taking their medications on a regular basis. This will help avoid them being sent home and placed on a quarantine for COVID-19. Medications such as antihistamines, decongestants or a combination of antihistamines and decongestants are options to try if you suspect your child is experiencing these symptoms. Nasal irrigations to help flush out pollens in the nose are also options.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Food Deliveries
This is a friendly reminder that food deliveries from vendors (Uber, GrubHub, etc.) are not allowed. Moving forward, deliveries from food vendors will be denied. This information has previously been communicated to our families and students.
Additionally, as communicated at the beginning of the school year, the USDA waiver allows Frisco ISD to provide free meals to all students during the 2021-22 school year. Free meals will continue to be served through the end of the current school year.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Frisco ISD Recognized by the NAMM Foundation
Because of the incredible work of our music teachers, Frisco ISD has once again been recognized by the NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for 2022! This is a tremendous honor that recognizes the work that our teachers do each and every day. This rigorous selection process takes into account music education from all angles – not just what is being done in the classroom, but how it is accomplished and, more importantly why strong support exists.
Simply stated, our community supports music education because they see the value in what it provides to every child.
Congratulations for a job well done and for a national recognition that is second to none. Our teachers are the real deal, and we are all extremely proud of them!

STAAR Testing Information
2022 STAAR testing dates:
Tuesday, May 3rd - Algebra EOC (All students enrolled in Algebra.)
Thursday, May 5th - Science (8th Grade)

Wednesday, May 11th- Reading (8th Grade)
Thursday, May 12th - Math (6th & 7th Grade)
Friday, May 13th - Reading (6th & 7th Grade)
There are several things you can do to help your child have a positive testing experience:
- Please do not schedule doctor or dentist appointments on testing days.
- Make certain your child gets plenty of rest, eats a good breakfast, and arrives at school on time.
- Students are required to be in their testing room promptly by 8:15 a.m.
- Students will have 4 hours to complete the STAAR test.
- Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria on testing days.
- Students will need to bring their FISD issued Chromebook, fully charged and their charger
- Students who receive oral administration will need wired headphones.
- AirPods or other wireless headphones are not allowed during state testing.
- Students may bring pencils, a lunch, a clear water bottle, and a book to read after testing.
- No fast-food deliveries or other drop offs will be permitted on STAAR testing days.
- The campus will be closed to visitors on testing days.
The district policy regarding cell phones and electronic devices during STAAR testing states that cell phones, smart watches and all electronic devices are banned from classrooms, hallways and restrooms during STAAR testing administration. A student discovered to be in possession of a cell phone or electronic device, once testing has begun may be subject to disciplinary action and the test in progress will be marked “no score.”
The district has also provided campus’ information regarding STAAR Testing and HB 4545. HB 4545 requires Texas school districts to provide supplemental accelerated instruction for any student who did not perform satisfactorily on the STAAR grades 3-8 or STAAR EOC assessments. HB 4545 requires supplemental accelerated instruction for students who do not pass STAAR. State law makes it clear that students may not opt out of tests, including standardized tests. More information is provided in this link STAAR Testing and HB 4545 .

Please drive safely and slowly through the carpool lanes for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Please help create a safe environment by following the procedures outlined below:

All students arriving by car should enter at the carpool entrance and be dropped off on the north side of the building outside the cafeteria.
Please follow the carpool procedures.
