Information from our School Counselor
I am incredibly grateful to be Hawley’s new School Counselor and to have the opportunity to support each of your children. School Counselors help students thrive socially, emotionally, academically, and in early career planning. I will form connections with students through minute meetings, short term individual counseling sessions, small groups, developmental classroom lessons, and more!
Minute Meetings: This school year, the elementary school counselors will be conducting "minute meetings" for all students in K-4th grade. These meetings allow every student to have one-on-one time with their school’s counselor and to build on the relationships that the counselors have with all of the students in the building. The school counselor will schedule a time with classroom teachers to pull each student for roughly 5 minutes until every student has had a turn.

Lunch
- Make sure they know if they have a lunch from home or NEED to order a lunch at school.
- Review the menu with them so they know the choices and KNOW what they want to order.
- Please Note that milk comes with a lunch but water and snacks would need to be purchased.

Open House
I usually gather with all parents before hand in the gym, and I do feel at this time, that would not be best. Therefore, I will send home a short video that I would appreciate if you would watch prior to Open House. It will be emailed early next week.
Open Houses are:
*Wednesday, September 29: Kindergarten-Grade 2, 6:30-7:15 PM in classrooms.
*Thursday, September 30: Grades 3-4, 6:30-7:15 PM in classrooms.
We do ask that these are Adult Only evenings and appreciate that you are able to arrange child care to be able to attend.
We look forward to seeing you next week. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Ice Cream Social(s)
We are going to divide it up into 2 Events (by grade level) to keep attendance sizes small but it is happening. Come enjoy ice cream served by Hawley Staff and play with friends.
Grades K-2 is Monday, 9/27 & Grades 3-4 is Monday, 10/4.
Both nights are 6:00-7:00 PM.
Masks must be worn when in the gym getting ice cream but parent discretion when outside on the blacktop, field and playscape. If you have children in both groups/grades, you can decide which night you would like to attend.

Out of the Mouths of Babes...
"Happy Birthday " Mr. M said to a student as he delivered a birthday card and pencil.
"Thank you" replied the excited student.
"Funny, your birthday is in September and mine is in October. I didn't realize that you were older than me " joked Mr. M.
" No " replied the student, " I'm just a little kid and you're an old man! "
