Course Selection for 9th, 10th, and 11th Graders
MCAS
- familiarize themselves with the TestNav program (this is done during ELA, Math, and Science classes)
- ensure that their Chromebook is up to date (restart the Chromebook nightly)
- locate their Chromebook charger
- contact Tech Services if they are having any issues with their Chromebook (a key doesn't work, it won't turn on, etc.)
The testing calendar is below. Additional details will be shared as we get closer to these testing dates:
- March 8 & 9 - ELA MCAS Retest
- March 14 & 15 - Math MCAS Retest
- March 17 - MCAS Infrastructure Trial for Grades 9 and 10 (during an extended Advisory)
- March 28 & 29 - Grade 10 ELA MCAS
- May 16 & 17 - Grade 10 Math MCAS
- June 6 & 7 - Grade 9 Science MCAS (some grade 10 students will also test)

The Stephen H. Barmakian Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications. Scholarships amounts vary. Please apply using this online application form.
- Candidates must be pursuing or plan to pursue a four-year college degree program or its equivalent from a highly recognized, well-established, nonprofit college or university in the U.S.
- Candidates must have a minimum 3.25 grade point average (GPA).
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Resident Aliens (U.S. National with Permanent Residency).
- Very strong preference for students who are of Armenian descent.
- Strong preference for students who are from the towns and cities in the greater Boston area centering around Watertown, to specifically include but not be limited to Watertown, Belmont, Waltham, Cambridge, Arlington, and Brighton.
The Madaline Fleming Scholarship is now accepting applications. Students must reside in the greater Boston area (at a minimum, since the beginning of their junior year of high school) to be eligible. Please note you will not be disqualified if you live out of state while attending your undergraduate program. You must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student or about to enter college as a full-time undergraduate student. Applicants must provide evidence of financial need, good character, and scholastic ability. Applications can be found in Guidance.

Special Opportunities
MassBay Community College's STEM Starter Academy is offering selected high school students a 2 week, tuition-free, 3 credit summer 2023 course (ET 111) - iCREAT - where students will be introduced to: coding, robotics, engineering and technology. The course will be taught by a MassBay Engineering faculty member. The course will be held on the 3rd floor and the room will not be accessible by elevator in Summer 2023 due to scheduled elevator maintenance. Students are required to take stairs to access the classroom. Students must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination. Learn more here.
The Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University is a leading global health education program open to students of any nationality in grades 9-12 (high school / secondary school). Through our international conference, students learn about issues in global health, public health, and medicine directly from world leaders in these fields through engaging lectures, forge connections with like-minded exceptional students from around the world, and share their own work and ideas on global health topics by having the opportunity to present in our Student Speaker Series. Suffolk University is now accepting applications for its free summer program. This July, students can select from one of our day-time three-week summer courses: The Entrepreneurial Mindset or Data Analytics: Storytelling with Data. They’ll have the chance to experience a college campus firsthand, spending their time in Suffolk’s academic buildings, libraries, and dining halls in downtown Boston. Best of all, this course is at no cost to them, and completion of the course will count for three Suffolk credit hours!
