Recently, DESE provided all school districts in the state with an opportunity to receive at-home COVID-19 test kits for their school community. These tests are intended for use by students and staff to support the return to school process after Thanksgiving and winter breaks. This is a voluntary testing program and is not required prior to your child’s return. If you choose to participate, DESE recommends that tests be used no sooner than 24 hours prior to returning to school after these holiday breaks.

Each student and staff member will receive one iHealth test kit to take home on Tuesday, November 22nd. Each kit contains two COVID-19 tests. If you choose not to participate, please feel free to donate the test kit to someone else or dispose of it. Should your child test positive, please contact your school nurse to review the isolation protocols and determine a return to school date.

The Winter Miscoe Sports informational night will be at Nipmuc on November 22 at 6:30 in the auditorium. We will be going over general info as well as a separate meeting with the coaches. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to come.

Winter sports registration for Miscoe Hill is open. We offer boys and girls basketball for 7th and 8th graders. Tryouts will begin the week of November 28. You will need to have an up to date physical on file and to complete the impact test in order to try out. You can register here:WINTER SPORTS or you can go to the district athletic page. Nipmuc Showcase is scheduled for January 10 with a snow day of January 12. There will be more information to follow.

Attention parents of 8th graders. Please submit a baby picture to miscoeyearbook@mursd.org by January 7th. We typically receive pictures that are from ages 0-5 years old.

Sign ups are happening now for the 2nd session of Art Club. Forms are available directly from Mr. Williams and Mr. Hansen as the clubs are separated into 5/6 and 7/8th Grades. Students who wish to continue to learn different skills through varied projects with an inquisitive mind are encouraged to sign up. You do not have to be in Art this half of the year to join! The club is free of cost but a $5 donation is appreciated for snacks and supplies. (Cash only) We meet on Wednesdays at 2:40 for an hour, for 7 weeks starting on Nov. 30th.

Did you hear that MA passed a law making it illegal to throw away textiles? The Baystate Textiles bin, located in the Miscoe parking lot, adjacent to the stairs to the fields, is your solution! All textiles are accepted. About 50% of goods are in reusable condition, 40% are cut down to rags and the remaining are ground down and made into new materials. Miscoe receives a % each month...currently about $100 per month. Let's see if we can boost this easy money!
