Volleyball Sets up for Success
The Bronco Volleyball team has had a great start to the season! They are 5-2 on the season currently under returning head coach Erin Shikowsky and assistant coach Sydney Gordon. The Broncos have nine seniors on their roster this year and are looking forward to a successful season!

The hardest part of volleyball is that the game of volleyball is like a rollercoaster. There are lots of ups and downs throughout and you have to really battle in the “down parts”!

Bronco Cross Country Paces Themselves for a Great Season
What was your inspiration for joining cross country?
“My older brother ran and I wanted to run like him.”-Abbi

“I have been in cross country for 5 years.” -Keira
I was in cross country in 7th and 9th grade. I decided to join my senior year because I wanted to stay active and have fun at the same time. The group of kids in CC are a fun group to run with and make running a little less painful. -Mitch

How do you warm up for a meet?
“To warm up for a meet we do dynamic stretches and we run out a couple of times before the race.” -Keira

Cross Country Starts with a Bang
The boys and girls Cross Country teams started off strong this year with the varsity girls placing 2nd in all three meets so far and the boys placing 1st, 4th, and 2nd in their meets. Yesterday (Thursday, September 14th) they went to the Section 7A Conference meet, with the girls placing 2nd, the boys taking 4th place, and Abbie Hutchinson becoming the individual champion with a time of 19:26.30. We asked seniors Abbi Hutchinson, Keira Hesseldahl, and Mitchell Erickson a couple of questions about this Cross Country season. When asked “What was your inspiration for joining Cross Country”, Abbi Hutchinson replied with “My older brother ran and I wanted to run like him.” Abbi’s goal for the season is to be section 7a champion. Keira’s goal for the season is to run a 23 minute 5k. The seniors want to make the most out of their senior year season. Their next meet will take place in Deer River on September 26th.
Jr. High Knowledge Bowl
Jr. High Knowledge bowl will be starting soon! Sign ups are at the office by September 22nd if you plan to participate.
You can participate in JH knowledge bowl if you are in grades 7-10
Knowledge Bowl is a team competition that tests your knowledge of trivia in areas such as history, math, science, literature, and pop culture.
You don't have to be valedictorian or a straight A student to join Knowledge Bowl. If you are interested in a certain subject area and want to try it out - Try it out!
Knowledge bowl has a small time commitment and doesn't interfere with most extra-curricular activities.
The practices are 30 mins of practice each week, and there are only 4 meets per season.
Meets take place in MT.iron during the school day and students will be back to FHS by the end of the school day.
Meet dates are Wednesday October 12th, October 26, and November 9th. The JV Tournament will be held Thursday, November 17th.
Don't Vape Join KAPE
All students through 6-12 grade are welcome to KAPE! They are allowed to come to the KAPE room if they are done with homework, have no missing assignments or failing grades. If you come to the KAPE room during your class period, ask for a pass to bring with you so Mrs. Balaski knows where you are coming from. 6th graders will be allowed to come during their lunch, but not during their recess.
Together we are strong sign at track provided by kape for prevention of drug use.
