Please join us this Friday at 8:30 AM for a joint Principal's Coffee and Home and School Club meeting. We know many of our families may find it hard to make it out to a Home and School Club meeting on Wednesday evenings, so this year we are trying to offer meetings at different times. Please join us this Friday to get updates from the principal and our Home and School Club Board.

Just a reminder that our district has a website set up to help you and your students at home with our Eureka Math Program. There are a number of resources available to you like module guides, videos for every lesson, and copies of the homework. Make sure you bookmark this page. Click on this link to visit the site.

Your student may have come home sometime in the past month or so and said, "I got a Gold Card today!" Gold Cards are part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System). When students are caught doing something that shows Responsibility, Ownership, Acceptance, Respect, or Safety (ROARS) they can be rewarded with a Gold Card. Gold Cards are deposited in a box in the office and once a month we draw two names at each grade level. Those students are invited to a pizza lunch with the principal where we eat and play games. We love to see how happy our students get when they are caught doing something good.

Our annual Halloween Parade is scheduled for 1:00 PM on October 31st. Students can bring their costumes to school and change into them during lunch recess. Since we are an elementary school, we ask that costumes be school appropriate. Please remind your students to adhere to the following guidelines.

1. No gory or violent costumes
2. No fake weapons
3. They must follow school rules for modesty
4. Masks can only be worn during the parade and if they are deemed excessively scary, students may be asked to remove them
5. Any student may be asked to alter or remove their costume if any part is deemed inappropriate.

Are you ready to ROCK???

This year, School of Rock is coming back to help us Rock the Walk at Guadalupe's Annual Walkathon. There will be live music, games, and an instrument petting zoo again.

All money raised from the Walkathon goes to pay for our Recess 101 and Starting Arts classes for every student.

We are lucky to have so many talented parents at our school. This summer, one of our parents produced a number of designs to be considered for our new school logo and spirit wear. Students will be voting on which one they would like and an announcement will come out later this week. Check out the options.

DELAC is an important advisory committee of parents of English Language Learner (ELL) students from Union School District elementary and middle schools. The District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) meets 5 times per year with Union School District representatives, to discuss issues related to English Learners, such as:

• EL student achievement
• CELDT testing and reclassification criteria
• District programs and services
• The importance of school attendance
• Parent education classes and involvement
• The annual EL parent survey and needs assessment

Parents are also, given the opportunity to provide valuable input on the District's Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) as it pertains to ELL programs and services.

The first meeting will be on November 29, 2017 from 5:00-6:30 PM at the
