Mountain View Weekly Update
September 8
Announcements & Updates
- On behalf of the Mountain View Middle School staff, we look forward to your attendance at Back to School Night, scheduled for Thursday, September 14 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Please review the invitation and schedule included in the September 1 Weekly Update for additional information.
- The first meeting of the Mountain View Parent Council will take place on Friday, September 15. For more information, a list of grade level representatives, and meeting minutes, click here.
- On September 15 and 18, Mountain View staff will be administering both a Mathematics and ELA assessment to all students at Mountain View using the LinkIt! online testing platform. The district has been using LinkIt! since 2015; students have multiple years of experience with this platform. Each year, we administer three rounds in both ELA and Mathematics , with the data from each round being used in various ways, from providing information about student progress, to evaluating our programs. Students have traditionally taken the assessment in their regular Mathematics and ELA classes. For the initial assessment (Form A), to create a more formal testing atmosphere, we will have all the students remain in their homeroom to complete the assessments, which is consistent with the administration of the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment in the spring. Note that a revised bell schedule will be in place, with all students taking the LinkIt! From 8:30 - 9:45, and the normal class schedule resuming thereafter.
- Cell phones and Smartwatches must be turned off and stored in lockers during the school day. Students who have devices on their person will have them confiscated. Devices will be returned at the end of the school day on the first offense. The second offense will result in a parent having to pick up the device. Subsequent offenses will result in detention and in-school suspension.
- Important reminder: If you need to drop an item off for your child during the school day, please leave the item (labeled) outside the front entrance and ring the intercom to alert the Main office. To minimize disruptions, unless the item is urgent, the Main office will not interrupt instruction to inform your child that an item has been dropped off. He/she is responsible for checking the front table.
- With fall athletics and extracurricular clubs underway, please be reminded that all meeting dates, sporting events, cancellations, etc... are posted to the Mountain View website calendar and Daily Bulletin. The calendar is available on both the website and the app, while the bulletin can only be viewed on the mobile app. Not sure how to find the bulletin? See the brief video below for step-by-step instructions.
