Honorable Brethren of MWSA 108:

Greetings. As the previous months have made it so, May was yet another busy month for our District. Following is a list of District 108 brags: Rosenberg Lodge hosted a successful Awards Banquet consisting of a Community Builder Award, seven (7) scholarships to deserving seniors from Terry, Needville, Lamar, Fulshear, Foster and George Ranch High Schools, and R:.W:. Cody Cockroft presented a 50-yr pin on behalf of the Grand Lodge of Texas. On May 4th Katy and Morton Lodges were busy as Katy Lodge conducted a very successful fish fry on behalf of the scholarship program and many Morton brethren assisted the City of Richmond with the Art Walk by opening the remodeled Lou Payton Fellowship Hall to the public for biological relief and offered a cool place for the vendors. Morton Lodge also conducted more than 30 tours of the Lodge Room as part of its Open House Program (of which three have been conducted this year). Brookshire Lodge and Katy Lodge conducted very successful EA Degrees on 13 May, and if that is not enough, Katy Lodge conducted two additional EA Degrees on May 20. On May 18, Sugar Land Lodge executed an outstanding MM Degree and Morton Lodge had a Called Meeting for the purpose of an EA turning in his work (in less than two months’ time). Afterward, various brethren from around the District showed at Katy Lodge to the West Side Assembly in their fundraiser. Special thanks to Katy Lodge for hosting the event! On May 19, District 108 was well represented in Brazoria as much fried fish was eaten at the Masonic Oak Observation with Grand Master Terry Stogner. Sugar Land Lodge hosted a successful Awards Banquet at their Lodge on May 22. A Called Education Meeting was had at Katy Lodge on May 24 for the purpose of Lodge Opening and Closing. Seventeen brothers were present, and seven of the eight lodges were represented.

Election of Officers should be at each of our next Stated Meetings. I trust all those brothers making themselves available for office have been preparing appropriately. I would ask that those brothers review the summary of qualifications and the current Worshipful Masters ensure compliance. Please provide me a copy of the completed Form 101 for the 2019-2010 WM, SW, and JW by July 31, 2019. Send also, the names, phone numbers, email, and station/place of the officers of your lodge within two weeks of elections.

In recognition of the Worshipful Masters of District 108 during the 2018 – 2019 timeframe, I thank you for your investment to the Craft. As Leaders, you are expected to do more. And you have done it. We are stronger today than we were yesterday – and that is reputable. I hope that your ascension to the East was not for a title only. Each of you has more to give. Your Lodge needs you as much, if not more, as a Past Master as it did while you sat upon the Oriental Chair.

Waller Lodge will be conducting a MM Degree on June 10. As we all know, the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason is a very special occasion. If you can make it, please do. Various District Lodges will be participating in this degree.

Morton Lodge will be conferring a FC Degree in the very near future. As history would hold, a Morton FC Degree is a special degree for reasons that can be explained only by observation.

On October 5, Duane Anthony will be conducted a forum and exam at Brookshire Lodge. This will be one of his last. Last year, we had over 40 Master Masons present! Let us squash this number this year. There is always something to learn and I encourage as many as possible to sit for a Certificate. I do know that Morton has made a commitment of at least five brothers who will sit for a certificate.

I will be attending the DDGM mid-year update on June 1, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. I trust I will learn a few things and it will be my pleasure to bring them home. I will coordinate with the newly elected WM’s in July concerning my official visits. These will likely initiate in August/September.

In closing: Let us remember Brothers Sharbrough with the loss of their wife and mother. It is never easy to lose a loved one, even when we know it is for a higher purpose. But we are Masons, charged to offer a hand as described in the Five Points of Fellowship. Our brothers need our strength in numbers.

Please work to keep your Lodge's Google Calendar that is linked to the District #108 Google Calendar up-to-date. With everyone's calendar up-to-date, Brothers from other Lodges will be able to plan to attend more events and meetings around our District. This will take some work on the part of whoever controls the individual Lodge's Google Calendar, but it will be well worth the time investment.

The next business meeting of the District 108 MWSA will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Katy Lodge #1439 located at 3158 Katy Hockley Road in Katy, TX. Our education segment for this meeting will be a great presentation on the duties of the investigation committee.

This section will be used to communicate Right Worshipful Cockroft's traveling schedule. Please note that this will not include various area and District Lodge degrees/events.
