This Week At SHOJ
April 9, 2021
From Mrs. Rhodes
During this Octave of Easter, I have included the Gospel reading of the day as part of our morning announcements. We hear over and over how it took time to recognize Jesus and believe that He lives, how the people helped each other recognize Him, and how some were even tempted to go back to their lives of fishing like before they knew Jesus. This weekend, we hear the story of Thomas not believing until he puts his hands in Jesus' wounds. I encourage the kids to put themselves in these stories and think about how we are the same as the Apostles. All these stories help our Easter Joy and strengthen our faith. Spring is also time for us to start our Kansas State Assessments for grades 3-8. Some of us may recall strong feelings regarding these tests. Our goal is to have the students take their time and show us what they truly know. Please encourage this at home and do all you can to have them at school, rested and ready to take the tests. Accurate information will help make Sacred Heart a better school!
Support the Fund the Need
Brown Bottle Registration: The Brown Bottle Auction is going VIRTUAL on Saturday, April 17. Don't miss this golden opportunity to celebrate 50 years of Brown Bottle Auctions! Click here for event details and to register! There will be a great video explaining the Fund-the-Need that night. We are asking for donations to improve the cafeteria equipment. Our first goal is to get a serving line that has a glass covering so food can be put on the trays as the students walk past without breaking the backs of those serving. Additional money will go to replacing cafeteria tables. Thanks for supporting our parish and this special fund the need.
Camp time!
The Archdiocesan Youth Office asked us to share information with you regarding the upcoming camp schedule at Camp Tekakwitha. This is a great camp support by the Archbishop's Call to Share campaign. Check it out!
Registration begins on March 1

Week to Purchase Raffle Tickets
It is raffle basket time. We will be doing these similar to the carnival - due to the system set up, if you want to buy 25 tickets for your two children to share, you will need to email Kim Drieiling and let her know how to divide them at kim.dreiling@shoj.org. From Nurse Mary
No New cases nor quarantines this week!
It is spring and those allergies are coming. The form explaining the different symptoms is attached. Please contact me if you need me to help with any medications. You may hear that some of the recommendations and requirements for COVID are starting to change. Our team continues to meet and discuss what is best for our students. We know that some schools, like SJA, are stopping the student temperature taking. We are going to continue this because we like the way it connects the adults with the children and keeps them coming in at a good pace in the morning. Keep checking here for more updates. Thanks for keeping SHOJ healthy.
