MMS WEEKLY UPDATE
May 6, 2022
****FORM TO BE FILLED OUT AND RETURNED MONDAY FOR 8TH GRADE DAY CAMP TRIP****
We apologize for the last minute addition to the paperwork that is needed for the trip but we have an inherent risk form that needs to be filled out. It should have come home today with your student. (It's also down below for you to print out just in case.)
Please have them return it to the office Monday morning. This is something that everyone must have in order to go to Camp Killoqua.
We appreciate your patience as we get back into the swing of things after a 2 year hold on field trips.
Have fun 8th graders!!!!

Lockers Are Back!
Students will again be able access lockers starting next week. They will be responsible for providing a lock. If it is a combination lock, the combination will need to be shared with the office. If it is a keyed lock, a spare key must be stored with the office.
Locker information can be found in Skyward under the student info tab.

This Saturday, May 7th, we have 4 MMS students participating in the SJMEA Junior Honor Festival at Mt Baker MS in Mt Vernon. There are 4 band members and a choir member participating.
Next week Thursday, May 12th, the 6th grade band will have their first performance. We'll be in the big gym starting at 7 pm. It should last about 45 minutes. They are sharing "the stage" with our marvelous Jazz Band.
May 21st, the 7th and 8th grade bands and our color guard/flag team will perform in Port Townsend for the Grand Rhody Parade. If you are over there, be sure to cheer on these kids.
May 30th -- Memorial Day -- the 7th and 8th grade bands (and some helpers from the MHS band) will perform for the Memorial Day service held at Greenwood Cemetery on Wiser Lake Rd. We haven't been able to do this since the spring of 2019 but it's exciting to be back on the program.
June 4th -- Lynden Farmers Day Parade -- Our 2nd parade of the spring is just up the road from here. They would love to see you out there showing your support. It's quite a lot of work to march and play your instrument at the same time, but especially so when you only started learning to play your instrument 9 months ago!!
June 7th --- 7th and 8th grade choirs and MHS Chamber choir -- Evening concert for the "older" choirs at 7 pm in the MHS auditorium. This is the first concert for the 7th grade choir and the majority of the 8th grade choir as well.
The Jazz Band and an 8th grade vocal group will be performing during the 8th grade promotion assembly as well.
