As the weather is getting colder and more wet, please remind students that coats and gloves will help keep them warm on the playground.

We had a QUICK mystery hangout with Indiana this past week. The kids are complete experts at this point and they guessed the other schools state within 9 minutes. It is pretty amazing to see their map skills unfold. We also had a mystery number which is similar to a mystery hangout except they are using their place value knowledge, as well as knowledge of key vocabulary (prime, composite, factor, multiple, greater than, and less than) to guess the other classes large number. Thank you to Ben and Cora for the leading the Mystery Number and Carson and Seth for leading a successful Mystery Hangout. Room 107 is in the leadership developing industry!

We got some new seating this week. Ask your kids about them! :)

Math: Algebra Unit (order of operations, numerical expressions, coordinate planes) Test Thursday!

Reading: We are reading The Witches whole group and working on presenting and creating media driven reading responses.

Writing: New spelling words this week. Test Friday. Informational writing.

Science/Social Studies: Ecosystems/Ancient Indian Civilizations. Geography will continue to have a focus as we continue to Mystery Hangout throughout the year.

Hello! I am a 5th grade teacher at Hopkins Elementary. I enjoy spending time with my little family in Hiram, Ohio. I have three children: Ricky (7), Nora (4), and Sean (3). I love my church, road tripping, everything Disney, and creating memories. I have been at Hopkins for 10 years now between 4th and 5th grade. We are going to have a great year!
