Your current selection and involvement in band should be consistent from day to day. Any student missing from marching rehearsal will not have the option to simply log in to be virtual that day. If you are not at rehearsal and that absence is unexcused, you will run the risk of losing your spot in the show. The entire calendar has been updated and is available to you, make sure that you schedule all appointments outside of marching rehearsal times. It is better to miss your band class during the school day for an appointment than it is after school. Please make an effort to plan ahead appropriately.

Many of you are noticing that you have some zeros in band. The weekly masterclass should be an easy way to earn your band grade and this has been noted on the smore every week since the start of school. This is virtual for ALL wind players weekly. If you have a zero that needs to be made up, there will be an opportunity to submit a recording of each etude (in it's entirety) to make up a zero. This assignment will be posted in the Marching Band Google Classroom for anyone needing to make up a zero. This make up opportunity will be posted by the end of this week. Make sure that you are attending your masterclasses that we have these last few weeks; they are an easy grade to earn if you are there and participating.

Any student late to rehearsal for tutorials will need to make sure the tutorials pass is filled out by their teacher prior to leaving those tutorials. This is a new process this year and the QR code is posted for students to access in Google Classroom. If a student fills out the form, it will not be excused; this form must be filled out by the teacher you are in tutorials with. It is the student's responsibility to Check-in at rehearsal with Mr. MacDonald at the sound board upon arrival to ensure they are not counted absent.

Any attendance issues during the school day in skyward need to be addressed by e-mailing Mr. Robinson directly.

Our calendar online has been updated through December with marching rehearsals, contests, parades, and concerts. TMEA Region audition dates will be added soon, but those auditions will happen virtually so that will be more flexible than it has been in the past. We will inform you as soon as possible if/ when changes are necessary.

Regarding marching rehearsals, we will do everything in our power to adhere to this schedule (even in the event of weather) as we now have the option to move inside to rehearse should lightning be an issue. Please make sure that your schedule is clear for all listed rehearsals as they are a part of your grade.

FOOTBALL GAMES: There are 2 AWAY games (that are not in GISD). As of now, we will not attend these games. We will continue to receive more information regarding football games in the weeks to come and will keep you informed of updates as we receive them. Our first football game that we are planning to attend is Friday, October 9 against Rowlett at Williams Stadium.

INTERCESSION: We will be having rehearsals during this "break" and our first football game performance is also on the week of intercession. You will notice that we don't rehearse until Wednesday afternoon of that week. This is an effort to give you a window of time to plan an out of town trip if needed. To be clear, you will see a football game on October 2, but we will not be attending this game, so if you are planning to leave town on Friday after school, there should be no conflict as long as you are back by our Wednesday rehearsal.

Nothing has been updated yet for the spring semester; we will let you know once it has been so you can plan ahead.

THE BUTTON BELOW IS A LINK TO THE CALENDAR ON OUR WEBSITE! For new parents, we do not use the Calendar on CHARMS for anything but Volunteers, however, all Volunteer opportunities are currently put on hold until we receive further direction and clarification from the district.

Grades will be checked on Monday to determine eligibility. Our first game falls in the intercession, therefore all students are eligible. This grade check will ONLY affect the second game we attend. The rest of marching season is affected by the 9 week grades. Make sure you are taking care of business in ALL Classes to ensure you are passing everything at the end of this cycle on October 2.

• ALL Guard, Battery and Wind players should have the UDB App
• If you are unable to get this working, you need to let a director know ASAP

Make sure that you have a hand towel that you can fit in your case to put down for class to empty the water from your horn. You will need to take this out of your case and wash it AT LEAST once a week (preferably more). It would be best if you can get a set of 5 hand towels and switch them out daily.

• You will enter the school through the exterior bandhall door by the ramp.
• There are orange pieces of tape for you to stand on while you are being cleared to enter class.
• Fill out the Health Screen; have screen shot ready to show a director upon entry.
• You will bring all equipment with you, go directly to your dot with all things for class.
• Virtual students will not be assigned a locker.
• You will be released 15 minutes prior tot he end of class to go home to log in for your next period class.
• If you have class A4 or B8 on a day that we have rehearsal at 3:15pm, you will need to bring your change of clothes with you.

• Arrive for rehearsal 10 minutes prior to the start of rehearsal
• Fill out the health screen and be prepared with screen shot to show at check-in
• Check-in with Mr. Morales
• You have been checked out a school locker, however this will not be used unless you change to a face to face option.
• You need to make sure that you are leaving your house as soon as your school day ends to ensure you are arriving on time to rehearsals. This gives you 15 minutes to be on campus after the school day ends, 10 minutes to check it. We are starting Monday and Thursday right at 3:15pm.

You will log in at the SAME ALL BAND LINK on this smore for ALL class times AND after school rehearsals. This week you will login for the beginning of all rehearsals to do fundamentals with us for the first 45 minutes. Following that you will need to use the remainder of rehearsal time to work on one of your region etudes. For the remainder of your participation grade, you will submit one of the 3 etudes for a grade. You will need to play the ENTIRE etude. This assignment will be in the Marching band google classroom for you to submit. You can choose which order you'd like to submit the etudes. The first etude will be due on October 2 and will be contributing to 3 weeks of rehearsal grades, so make sure you are putting adequate time into this preparation.

The second etude recording will be due October 30.

The third etude recording will be due November 20.

This schedule will remain the same for the first grading period. After Labor day, 3pm meets will be pushed back by 30 minutes to allow time for you to get home after school.

All wind players will have a required weekly masterclass for one hour outside of the school day. This attendance and appropriate participation will be for a grade each week. Expectations of appropriate participation requires that students:

• Be on time to the meet
• Have camera on the entire time
• Have instrument, music, metronome, and any other needed supplies ready to go in order to maximize instruction time.
• Actively participate by playing along when appropriate and playing for the group to receive feedback when asked to do so. (We are not looking for perfection, just a starting place so feedback can be given for improvement.)

We are working on a schedule for percussion, however with limited access to equipment, this schedule is not final at this time. Look for update in next week's updates.
